- This is pretty cool, thanks for this - also provides a good sense of how many new buildings EA could potentially add (I can't find the Springfield sign though).
Obviously the scale on this map compared to the game is way out (by this map 7 houses are the same width as the town hall!) but there's still some good stuff here. Glad to see that King Toot's is next to Moe's!
...also this has made me really want a Monorail in a future update - they can use the Lard Lads Donut to stop it when it inevitably goes wrong. And surely the Escalator to Nowhere will have to show up at some point! Ransom1337 wrote:
One of the biggest troubles with trying to make a duplicate Springfield is that the proportions are much different, and so a lot of things just don't look right in your town. I've started to change my plan to just stick to the different area positions (ie. housing area, industrial area, forest, etc) and just put the buildings in whatever manner I choose within those areas. It means you can still get your town looking good.
Sent you and add.
I've been using the same map for the past month or two to setup my Springfield.
As you said, it's tough proportion wise to fit everything in. I make slight adjustments and have some extra houses here and there for revenue until I earn enough to expand and make an Evergreen terrace neighbourhood.
Interested to see how others compare.
Feel free to add me if you're doing the same- I've just realised that the map puts Lard Lad Donuts blocks away from the Monorail track! That's not even consistent with the one episode that includes the (working) monorail which is also one of the most prominent appearances of Lard Lad.
Curse you innaccurate map! Ransom1337 wrote:
Request gladly accepted! Please excuse the mess around the edges as I try to expand, it's taking a while :)
Just looked, you have so much more room than me!
You're powerplant over the river area is better than mine, mines all squashed in.
The observatory collider annoys me, couldn't find it on the map. So I tend to move it dependant on where new buildings come into play.- Ill send you a inv let me know what you think of mine
- You coud also add that the Aztech theatre is not a stand-alone building. It stands amongsts the row of small stores in 'old springfield'
- Also in the episodes everytime you see a Birds-eye view of the Power plant theres a road separating the cooling towers with the Office building/parkings

You're right, they are more paths than main roads, if you know what I mean. Look here: http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100331223557/simpsons/images/0/0c/Springfield_Nuclear_Power_Plant_1.PNG
However, if you have the room to seperate both, then go for it, sure it'll look good.
Man I am struggling for room now, just put the retirement castle in.
Moved Jake's Unisex to where it should be, down with Luigis and Gilded Truffle.
Have stored the Collider now until I can buy more land.- I've been recently watching old Simpsons DVD box sets in order (I'm up to Season 4 now) and I'm becoming increasingly disillusioned with that map (it was from one of the old Simpsons books wasn't it?).
...I'm increasingly minded to ignore the map and focus solely on what's in the episodes - and then whenever things contradict just pick my favourite option.
As others have said the 'zoning' seems like a no brainer - the nice houses aren't going to be next to the industrial buildings, the farm is going to be out in the sticks etc.
One thing that bugs me when visiting other people's towns is a lack of access to buildings, or having to walk over grass to get to a fancy restaurant like the gilded truffle - madness!
(I say this but I currently have a bunch of buildings unatractively bunched up in a corner waiting for me to buy more land so I can't really complain about other people's towns). - I originally wanted to recreate Springfield, but I dropped the idea when I ran out of space. Perhaps I'll try it again after I get the hospital and I have time to purchase land plots.
That fan-made map is really cool, but I liked to refer to actual pictures from episodes.

Here is another Krusty Burger in the neighborhood.

I recommend going to the two Simspons wikis or Google Images to search for the buildings.
