You know there are going to be people who do this on purpose to be jerks?
I've got 20 neighbors (not looking for more) because I recently purged my list since I don't have the time to visit people anymore and wanted to open up the slot for them to get a "better" neighbor so, it would be fairly easy for me to determine if somebody is doing this to me.
That's the plus side of keeping your neighbor list very small.
