Funny thing is, only time I see any salt and vinegar on potatos, it's chips (American - crisps to you). Americans generally put ketchup on fries.
You say potato, I say potato, let's call the whole thing off..... Ah, but the key thing here is "put your" s&v on, which is not something you do with crisps/chips. We too have ketchup (otherwise known as tomato sauce) and are known to consume with chips/fries - although technically speaking a fry is not the same thing as a chip :lol:
On this side of the pond, even the things you call chips are called fries here. We just call other things fries too.
And we really don't call ketchup tomato sauce. Tomato sauce is a much different thing here.
