here is my town, you can judge for yourself if I over decorate (I wouldn't want to crash your town, but if you want me as a neighbor, feel free to send a request). I do not have any items stacked in a corner just to raise my multiplier or for any other reason. I do think it should be reasonable to be able to display every building (which I have done)
BTW, whether playing on my iPad Mini 2 or my iPhone 6 Plus, I do not have any lag. I am currently at 7400 items and have hit the limit at least 6 times in the last month, having to replace trees and other decos with water/rivers

Have to say Brett your town is pretty darn awesome man!
thanks Neo. I always enjoy visiting your town too- Beautiful town, Brett, thanks for sharing. It made me think about some of the unnecessary items taking up space in my town, mainly duplicate houses. I can see you must constantly rework your design, based on how many newer buildings I noticed in the center of your town.
- Come on EA, we dont need item limit
- I haven't had any issues with sluggishness, visiting friends or rendering either.
... And I must agree with everyone else that Bretts town is pretty awesome.
When friends visit me, they say at most it's a couple of extra seconds to load, no real noticeable difference.
Btw.. My friends list is currently full...Trying to make room.
I have a tablet with Kitkat and another with Lollipop. Both work smooth. - I have also reached the threshold for 'objects' on several occasions....but just noticed recently that it has been increased to 5100 from 4000. Not sure if this is a global setting or tied to Level, or something else.
I pride myself on having a 'lifelike' base design with no unnecessary duplicates. I have cut down on the trees used (no pun intended  ) and most of the extra stuff like garbage cans, etc. Haven't been bothered with the warning recently until today, as I was placing some of the many jack-o-lanterns from previous Halloween events.
I am sure this is just a 'cost of capacity' issue and EA will address it by either streamlining their designs or increasing servers and storage. I cannot imagine the developers discouraging growth within the game for their valued longterm users.
I support an increase to the maximum 'objects' allowed in a base....however it is accomplished.
Thanks,

I nuked a town that I really loved because I was very close to the item limit, and Springfield Heights was just arriving. I've rebuilt a large portion of my town, but my fear of the limit keeps me from doing anything more than a rough layout on properties (compared to what I want to do or have done).
I'm avoiding styles that are item consuming and it certainly removes a lot of the fun for me.
Here's hoping EA raises the limit for those of us who need it. - That's a beautiful town Brett. I can't imagine how long it took you to stitch that!
- 4junk3000New SpectatorBrett your town is awesome and obvious you are at the real limit. I don't think you've over decorated too much, instead it seems you're just plain maxxed out from playing this game so long. You have a valid case for wanting more.
But slruser just commented above they think they're at the limit at 5100. This person seems unclear on what the limit really is. The OP didn't indicate where they are. You clearly are at the max.
I'll be happy to send a request next time i log in. But besides appreciating a great designer as a new neighbor, i am interested to test how long it takes your town to load on my device. I expect it will take twice as long as some friends. Neo is also my neighbor, and his town takes much longer than average to load. But, like sandwedgeking and a few others, i an willing to wait a bit longer for my preferred neighbors with stellar towns.
I have a Nexus 7 tablet, for whoever asked above. Loading larger towns will slow this thing down, and there is nothing running on it besides TSTO, that's all its for. I've dropped a few neighbors because their town became a pain to visit. But, they were also cluttered or just swamped with flowers. Then i felt bad about it and now it's like another thorn in the side of my game. I don't like dropping good neighbors, but i don't like waiting.
I understand the desire for more stuff just like more space, but i guess for now it's an exercise in designing efficiently. I've spread out my trees so there's less covering more, for example. Anything hidden behind other features is removed. Even that one partial fence section is getting left out now.
Thanks for discussing, hopefully a solution comes down the pipe from EA, but i have low expectations of that org. - I think I'm over 6700 now. Would love it to increase everytime there is a land expansion. I think 9000-10000 limit is suffice for now.
- 4junk3000New SpectatorOK just to verify my point, comparing how long it takes to get into Other Springfield vs Brett's town...
Other SF takes 3 seconds to load. Brett's takes 38 seconds.
Imagine if all neighbors took 12x longer.
Also, his town had several rendering glitches. I took a ride on his monorail twice. The first time, short tracks were illustrates as SH potted Palm trees. The second time, curve tracks turned left were a randomized jumble.
Brett's town is "at the redline" so to speak. And anyone with a car should understand the thrill of hitting the redline but also the consequence.
So until we all can afford the "Yamaha R6 of mobile devices", i think the redline (7500 feature limit in this case) is an effective limitation.
In the meantime, Brett could thin out the redundancy of decorations in his town. He's got four trash trucks parked together when 2 could suffice; same with the pink alien clone cylinders. He's got a group of ten of them. Couldn't four serve the same design purpose? And of course thanks to the glitch he's got one of the largest monorail tracks in existence.
Which was definitely fun to ride! An awesome town, but not a typical one. So it's understandable that EA's limits don't meet his needs.
Maybe in a year when devices have evolved a bit more... We can hope!
