Typed up a quick Google Doc that hopefully explains the 10 shovel solution in a bit more detail. Link is in my signature as posting it within the thread is against forum rules.

We're actually discussing that in the thread posted by LPN, the correct shape is more of a T (upper or lower, not enough Data)

No pics at the moment. I'll try to get one soon. t or x depending on how you look at it. If the gem is on the edge or corner, you won't get all 4 rocks.

Exactly. If the gem is on the edge or corner, you just don't see all the rocks

Thank you, that picture was helpfully and completely destroyed my theory, no worries im off, to test other theories!
