Just enjoy the game and designing your town. Dont worry about what some of your friends have in their towns, there will always be someone who has more than you.
Check through your friends list and if you have some that havent played for a while then replace them, if you want, with people who are currently playing. Doesnt really effect this event but some events rely on good friends and their visits.
