I definitely had less than 100 posts when I got promoted a few months ago. I'm not sure how many posts you actually need to do around the 20th of the month -- I felt like I didn't post very much around the 20th to be promoted the month I was, but I got the magical PM from EA that I was promoted.

Where is no way for us to know how the promotion system really works and how much the forum moderators are involved until EA or the forum moderators tell us how the system really works.

Making a new account and post like mad the last day or two up to the promotion day will NOT prove whether the moderators are involved or not.

The only thing we know for sure is that the promotion system do not work the same way as on any other forum.


At least it doesn't seem to harm your chance to get promoted to have a signature that stands out.

The moderators are not involved in the promotion process.

When I joined I asked how to be promoted - the moderator I asked told me I just needed to post a lot around the 20th of the month in order for the system to notice me. It is system generated.

I can assure you that the moderation team has no control or influence over promotions. It's somehow server generated based on when you post. The best anyone can do is just post a lot around the 22nd of each month. Some say between the 18 and the 22nd. Also people say it helps to post in OT, I'm guessing because there are so many games, random conversations you can engage in.

You make it sound like Neo, Dalton, Deadshot, John C, and Direwolf are all sitting around a table together in some darkened room, diabolically debating who merits a nod and laughing at those who get left out. :P They are no more involved in promotion day than you or me.

Other than observation of the mods and interaction with other forum members during my time here, I have no physical proof to offer you. If you think I'm lying to you, feel free to PM any of the mods for clarification. Also, you can review their reactions In This Thread and draw your own conclustions

Who have you contacted at EA to request an explanation? Or are you assuming some EA Oversight Committee will approach you with specific answers to your various random TSTO/EA questions and issues at their leisure?

This is the first more or less official answer I have seen on this.
This information really should be in the "Avatar Control Panel" so people had a chance of knowing why their Avatar isn't showing.
The lack of this information in the "Avatar Control Panel" really makes is insanely confusing for forum members that isn't promoted yet.

The fact that this forum's promotion system do not work on normal forum principles makes it that more imported that this information is right where in the "Avatar Control Panel".

Ultra minor nitpick. I have zero idea as to what the magical formula is for determining who gets promoted, but will say that just because someone has more than 100 posts and no visible avatar doesn’t necessarily mean that they haven’t been promoted. When I was promoted way back when, it took me two or three months before I finally got around to making an avatar.

That's quite true, and the avatar is not what I'm basing this on. I have seen many people in the threads over the years with over 100 posts still asking how to get promoted or saying that they haven't been promoted in the congratulations threads.
