Friendly tip - moving sections

Fellow tappers,

I’ve been playing for over 6 years now but have been a bit lazy with my designs in the past year or so. With everything going on, I’ve found more time to invest in my Springfield but found it difficult to get designing again with item cluttering/overcrowding.

I liked certain sections of my town but not others and found myself wanting to move bits around. Since the town portrait update, it’s proved tricky to move sections without selecting roads/pavements too - a very frustrating feature which means sections can only move in 4x4 grids. Until I discovered that I can just switch off the roads/pavements and continue to drag and select my sections - genius right?! Only took me like 3 years to realise but at least now the fun is back in tapping! 😎

(Note apologies if you already know this but thought it might be worth sharing for the new tappers/mortals among us 😅)

Happy tapping!
  • The side benefit; if you have carefully patterned roads (centerline sidewalks) using this tip will help you not mess them up.

  • My problem is that I forget to turn the streets off. "Why won't this fit!"
  • Another tip, if it's very difficult to drag the group where you want it, because of game lag, just group-store it, then scroll, and then unstore it.
  • Yeah, been there done that.
I must've been playing at least a year and I was trying to group move stuff, but it would only do it after every four squares.
Now, NOW, it seems so obvious but at the time, well it took me a few minutes.
  • Yeah, especially trying to get it to cross the road, then there's scrolling the inventory trying to find it.
  • No scrolling in the inventory if you group-store it. Group stored batches have their own sub category in the storage section.

In fact, I do a thing where i batch all my similar items. Example: fountains. I put all my fountains on the ground in one tight batch. Then i group store them. Then, anytime i want a fountain, i place the entire group, select what i want, and then group-store the entire batch again. This saves a lot of effort scrolling.

Of course, EA COULD JUST INDEX THE STORAGE *HINT*

You are going on the assumption that the group stored items will be at the front of my other groups of group stored items and not part way along, apparently, I read that most recent items should appear at the front... Really!!!

I couldn't figure out why mine kept getting messed up until someone posted about it.
