I agree and doubt it'll overlap. People will still collect CRs until they complete phase one then move on to phase two if already open.

The timer says when the next issue starts, not when the first one ends! It decides what currency you have by how far along you are in the quest. Individualized currency makes the most sense, I'd bet the farm it doesn't lock out episode one!

I think this is correct and it uses the same sort of reasoning I did except I was thinking about comic books,
I.e. everyone starts issue one as soon it is released but if you finish it straight away you have to wait until the next issue is released before continuing or if your not done with the first comic your obviously not going to start the second comic on the day its released instead you finish issue one and the get issue two when it suits you. Once again this is just opinion and not fact

I'm almost positive the currencis will not overlap. My guess is the prizes will be there for donuts if you missed them.

ok i agree with you to a certain extent but the currencies don't overlap and you cant do both parts at the same time.
i am sure what happens is that you need to have pie face for part 2 to start. so if you don't have him yet you will continue to collect rods until you get him then it will switch to the bomb currency right away.
but if you already have pie face completed before part 2 starts then the currency will switch right as the times ends for part 2 to start.
still very good to have part one complete before part 2 starts or else you risk falling behind on part 2 and part 3
