Some one want to explain this nuke thing ? I see the mushroom cloud asking me if I want to store my inventory but to be honest I don't have a clue about what it's about ..or how how it came about ....I remember a task about fritz building a weapon but didn't know anything went with it
I guess EA heard all the wishes that we could store everything at one time really fast and start over, instead of having to store each shrub and flower one-by-one. So they gave us the nuke button.
In theory, that button stores everything in one nanosecond, except Homer and Lisa(?) And the Simpson house, the lemon tree and I would expect the KL shuttle as well. Poof. Everything in storage.
Notice I said "in theory"
There was a post here recently (I could swear it was in the past few days, but can't find it), where someone said they had lost their Cool Brown House. Not sure whether they ended up finding it, but if that sort of thing could happen, I really don't like that button for my Springfield.
I will DEFINITELY take screenshots/panorama of my Springfield and inventory before nuking my Springfield, should I ever be moved to do so.
Now that jae_bazz has tested nuking KL and answered my concerns about the characters, I will be nuking my KL possibly this afternoon. (Jae_bazz, I shall be expecting wondrous things when I look in on your KL in my visits over the next weeks.)
Well, right now you would just see the KL entrance and some debris, because I nuked it pretty close to bedtime last night. But soon. Soon I shall make magic in the formerly barren wasteland.annettemarc wrote:

I'm glad y'all are no where near the real button!
Thanks jae_bazz for taking one for the team, and reporting the result.
Gee, I just yesterday finally did the last task in KL!!
Now, should I buy all the land and spread it out?- Bumping this because I added update info to my initial post, beginning with red-font sentence. (Nothing earth shattering, but worth noting.)
- To answer the question in your revised OP: I bet anyone not linked to a building that was still standing in Springfield got stored. Which would explain why Cletus didn't get stored when I tried, but SVT et al did....
Edit: Hans Moleman has a building, doesn't he? Nevermind, there goes that theory!
Edit #2: No, he doesn't! The original theory stands! annettemarc wrote:
UPDATE: FYI, after I nuked my KL, I discovered that Kearney, Hans Moleman, and Squeaky Voiced Teen had been moved into my storage.
No biggie, but if you do nuke KL remember to check your storage for vagabonds.
BTW: I did NOT have them on tasks in Springfield at the time, so they had followed me over to KL. They apparently went into storage when required KL buildings were stored. What confuses me, however, is this ... Since almost ALL my Springfielders are tasksless, and ALL the KL eligible ones had followed me, why weren't ANY of the others stored?
Maybe it's because those three didn't have an associated structure in Springfield to flee to, so they took shelter in the storage.neuroheart wrote:

Amazing that anyone figured that out. Good work, jae_bazz and neuroheart!
Btw, jae_bazz, when I nuked my KL, the regular Springfield characters who had followed me stayed there. Cletus, Lenny, CBG, Marge, and a host of others. Wandering around the empty KL. Except those mentioned who went into storage.
Weird, huh? Makes alarms go off in my head that there should be ANY variations from one case (yours, with Cletus disappearing from KL and returning to Springfield) to another case (mine, with Cletus remaining in KL.)
A minor inconsistency, to be sure. But I kinda want something as horrendous as the Nuke button to be really really stable. Worries me.annettemarc wrote:

That is a little bit terrifying. I am open to the possibility that it was human error on my part, though- there's a chance that Cletus was camouflaged in among the KL patrons (Waldo-style) and I just couldn't find him. I did poke around for a few minutes looking, but maybe I missed him? He was the only one over there, because I had all other eligible SF'ers on task already...- 4junk3000New Spectator

The nuke button is a great thing they implemented, but a few warnings won't stop some guy who logged into my town from obliterating it.
this is a major concern for me
EA may eventually refund purchased items maliciously sold by an intruder, but can they restore a lost town from a previous save point? Can they restore the months of work to complete either my SF or KL???
I would be very unhappy to lose any thing in this game. Not the stuff, the time invested.
IN FACT IT SHOULD BE PASSWORDED. EA, PLEASE IMPLEMENT PW PROTECTION ON THIS BUTTON - I was dying to try the nuke button last night, so I set everyone to do a task in Springfield, went to Krustyland and nuked it.
I can happily report that nothing was lost and all went safely to storage. I spelled out "MMM Nukes" in shrubs and went to bed. I redecorated KL today and everything went smoothly.
I still don't trust the nuke button for SF, so that is just a hot mess right now as I redecorate. - To jae_bazz :
Assuming you haven't had time to do much redesign over there yet, wanna test something? Put out some of your KL stuff, including the Ring Toss or something else Cletus-related. Then get good ol' Cletus to wander over there, and nuke it again.
If he DOES return to your Springfield, as he did for you before, it will prove that we DID experience different results.
If he does NOT, then it won't tell us anything, since we still aren't sure, since as you said, you may have missed him.
(Meanwhile, I'll do the same in mine. I have the buildings out of storage ... )
