Hey there players,
It's really cool for every player that has been gifted the House Of Evil. For free.
However, a lot of other long term players including myself have paid 45 donuts for this limited premium building in 2013 and 2014.
A donut refund would be the most logical solution in my opinion. EA doesn't agree. I need to collect some information or users with the same problem to prove it's unfair to long-term players that already put a lot of dough in the game.
Anyway, please comment if:
a) you've gotten a (donut) refund for an item that was previously premium
b) are having the same issue/complaint
c) got donuts back after a complaint
d) have something related on your mind
This comment suggests a disagreement with some basic principles of supply and demand.
If the feature was originally free, but then later released for a premium price, it creates a demand among consumers who then feel compelled to spend money to have it. You chose to satisfy your demand and made the purchase.
So purchasers are enjoying the use of said item. It's in your town, while others do not have access to it in their own. That is what you bought: EXCLUSIVE ACCESS, and you used it gladly. Therefore expectation of a refund is unjustified.
THE CONDITIONS THAT EXIST NOW, that the item is given "free" is also incorrect. This is again a "limited release" and will end after Halloween. Those choosing to participate in the event are being granted the exclusive access you chose to pay money for.
This does not devalue your purchase because you had access already.
If this doesn't make sense, here's a different scenario. You buy a new car for $100k. 10 months later your neighbor goes to dealer, buys exact same car as you, but now next year's model is out so he gets the car for $90k.
Do you go to the dealer and ask for $10k? Why would you expect this refund either? - If only this forum had an ignore list like Imdb..........

This is like when a new iPhone comes out: some people pay 800 to be the first to have it. That same iPhone a year or two later will be given out free to a new customer of a phone company. Where can I buy a phone with donuts?
The word «like» suggests an analogy and in this case, so as to make an argumentative point, I utilised an analogy so as to make my argument accessible to even the most plebeian of users. I guess if you could not understand it then it was not dumbed down enough. Here, let me try again: a thing which costs donuts is now free like a lot of outdated* stuff.

I'm speechless.
Not sure why you would be. In comparison to most of my posts, I legitimately spent a lot of time writing that all for the purpose of explaining my argument so as to make it more accessible. Maybe you are speechless that I have been able to further simplify an already simple argument. In that case, thank you.

Let us leave aside the fact that calling someone a plebeian is not an insult but rather an observation, I never called you one. But the fact you associated yourself with one leaves little to the imagination.
I subsequently expressed an opinion which again is not an insult. Not sure how you can perceive it to be so.
Lastly: you have no authority to implement any rule or point out to me what I should or should not do.
You failed to comprehend my initial post so I took the time to explain it to you. No wrongdoing ws committed.
Please take my advice and move on. You might have accused Henpot of being a "plebian" and the rest of it, but it is you who didn't get her joke. You still don't get it. So please move on. It's painful to watch.
Also, everyone who's been a member of the forum for a while knows that Annette (Forumnerds) never seeks out an argument, and she certainly never loses one!
So please move on! Other than apologizing, whish I realize you won't do, there is nothing you are likely to say that will get you out of this mess you've created for yourself.petehd14 wrote:
that wasnt a mistake they added the code in to make them like that. they didn't edit the cost in the event files. they added that to s.heights to change it to awards, and it was there since SH was released so it wasn't a mistakeIgcognita wrote:

Why is that? They released those for awards by mistake.- Its just 45 donuts
The lard lad donuts cost 110
And I haven't bought it
But I got it from the mystery box
And I have now more than 15 lard lad donuts ( by the weakly mystery box and by buying mystery box for 6 donuts)
And you don't see people who already bought it mad
And I think I have bought a character once and after few weeks it become free in mystery box
Sometimes you got a good deal , sometimes other got a good deal - RosshkNew SpectatorYou're not getting a refund.
They should have made the shopkeeper a wandering character (like Cecil & #1), and given him a word bubble to tap for the challenges. That way they could have made him a free character after the event, encouraging people to spend 45 donuts on the shop.
But hey, that would just make money. ItalianoRacer wrote:

Y'know what I don't get? This whole event seems a complete turnaround from the EA I've become accustomed to over the past years. It s awesome, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around the stuff they're doing for freemium players this time around. (Gets out pompoms)
Based on what they did the past recent events, they would have released Hugo and Kodos and the UBO skin for lots of donuts, and taken full advantage of the popularity of the Bad Dream House. They would not have let us craft any of those as easily as we are able to do this time.
And 100 donuts? The challenge for Thursday, I think, is "craft a prize." That's it. I can keep my campfire generating the creature of my own choice and make something. Anything.
100 donuts. From EA. That's about $8 per player. Real life money. Did one of the execs have a one-on-one with the Pope?
I hear you with this. It's puzzling.- I understand your frustration. I am rather a cheapskate. (I'm not saying you are, but I am.) And buyer's remorse is a very common thing with me. I have purchased a lot of things only later to return them to the store, or attempt to return them. And even in this game, when I buy something for doughnuts, several days later I am asking myself if it was worth me spending my precious doughnuts on that item. If there could be a comparison made between EA and retail stores, which I'm not sure there can be, but retail stores usually have a time limit for when an item can be returned for a refund. That's often like 30 days. Maybe some have more generous policies like 60 or 90 days. But not a year or two. I doubt there are many stores around that would be that generous.
Truthfully, it would make no sense for a business to allow people to return items anytime they want for a full refund. Because there are plenty of people who would buy truck loads of things, take them home for a couple years, then come back and say, "Nah, I don't want this. Please give me a full refund." (I would probably be one of those people.)
With this game specifically, there are always going to be extreme price fluctuations. Sometimes in your favour and sometimes not. That's always the risk you take when you buy anything, or don't buy anything. You've probably gotten other things for free in the past that later players had to pay for.
