Does the bottler only bottle the elves? Because I've already done the bottle 20 elves task but I haven't gotten a single cogwheel yet using the elf bottler. :(
It bottles elves, and I've read that 30% of the time it will give you cogs too. Tapping them individually gives the same results.
You should be seeing cogs very soon, if you still have not received one.
This device is handy in areas where you have something that you don't want to tap but still want to catch the elf/elves. - Great video, Barry!
I'll just add that in past events I had a devil of a time getting the device to work on a Kindle but no problem with IOS. ndeeka wrote:

Hmm, not sure if this will make it easier (or quicker) to catch elves.
I'll find out myself soon enough.
Great video though, thanks.
I think if will be easier especially if you play on your phone since it's really hard to see those elves sometimes.
Thanks Barry - jukan00New SpectatorThis is the same tool they've basically used in the past several events right? A vacuum/zapper thingy.
After I did the first 20 I won't be using it again, it's much faster/rewarding to squish the elves. barryriddl474 wrote:

ty,but when i click and hold = nothing :(
Another thing you can try is to make sure your tapping finger and screen are completely clean of the natural oils we have in our skin. I do this to help on items like this that require a more precise touch.
Hmmm, I have washed my hands, I cleaned my screen I still can't get it to work on my Galaxy Note 4. I even tried the pen stylus and no luck.- barryriddl474Seasoned Newcomer

Please understand that the advice I gave that forum member was after several other suggestions in another thread, which was what prompted me to make this video.
That being said, it does take practice and it helps to have a steady hand (for you coffee drinkers out there). You can also try:
Tapping and holding with a different part of the end of your tapping finger. I know this may sound weird, but it helps me. If I tap and hold, and the screen slightly moves after I hold, then it doesn't work very often, but slightly turning my finger seems to help have a more controlled tap, if that makes sense.
Let me know if you are still having trouble. - i click and hold about 30 min., try different place, different hold and click (slow, fast) ... :)
barryriddl474 THANKS for video :) - Maybe it doesn't like my fingers, maybe my nails are to long. All I know for sure is it will not work for me . But your video sure makes it look easy so thanks!
- OK, maybe I am just a spazz. Every time I click the Elf Bottler, it puts a window on my screen that reads the same direction. I have to click OK to get rid of the directions window. After that, if I tap the screen, nothing happens. I have kept my finger on the screen, and nothing happens. I have tapped elves and they just bottle like normal.
Do I have my 4th glitch of the game so far? Or am I just totally spazzing out?
Thanks for any response. - barryriddl474Seasoned Newcomer

Honestly, it just takes a bit of practice. Now that you have the 2nd tab in the top right of the screen with the Elf Bottler, there's no need to hit that again. Just go to an area in your town where you can practice without accidentally tapping a character or building, and just practice this: tap and hold. Try a light touch and different areas on the end of your finger (if needed). On my devices, they require me to tap straight down and close to the screen for better results. If I tap at an angle, the screen seems to slightly shift as I'm holding. When I am close and tap lightly straight down, the screen remains still and then you'll see the "lightning".
Hope this made sense.
