I'd rather get nothing than $1000.

A slap in the face always getting $1000. I feel like I'm wasting my time. It's not fun anymore.

Yeah, I'd totally prefer if the wheel just had a blank spot that gave nothing at all!

...Wait, no, that's sort of stupid, isn't it?
I'm not saying the wheel is fantastic or anything. A lot of frustration has come out of it, and I could name a few (reasonable) things I'd rather have than the money. (Gift bags, for instance.) But you'd rather have nothing? That's ridiculous.

    Its not ridiculous.

    Think of it like this.

You work really hard at your job, that is say at an advertising agency, you land the biggest client your firm has ever had, a $10000000 account, your boss calls you into his office and gives you a $1 bonus. I think in that situation you'd rather he didnt bother.

Um, yeah, it is ridiculous. Saying you'd rather have nothing than the $1000 would make that scenario into your boss calling you into his office just to say you got no bonus.
You put in the work (not nearly as much as a big client, unless landing a big client takes five minutes of tapping on a screen) to get a spin token for 1000 cards, spin the wheel... Oh, sorry, empty slot you get nothing! C'mon, anyone here would froth at the mouth if that happened.

Say you'd rather have a trash can fire. Say you'd rather have gift bags. Say you'd rather get gift cards (personally, I think the cash is a better prize than more gift cards, since I just started building the cash-depleting sunsphere and I have more than enough gift cards.) Say you'd rather have anything else. Saying you would literally rather get nothing is actually so ridiculous it makes you out to be the whiniest of the whiners who don't like the wheel. Oh boo-hoo they gave you in-game currency in a much higher value than 90% of mystery boxes, but you didn't get the lowest probability thing on the wheel so they should have given you nothing. It's like some emo kid going, "Life isn't just spectacular, so I might as well kill myself." Cry a river, build a bridge and get over it.
  • I am not overly bothered by the wheel, but in the above situation I gave, yes I would prefer the boss just didnt give me a bonus rather than a $1 bonus.

Not that exact situation, but one year an old boss instead of giving a christmas bonus just sent a Happy Christmas generic email to everyone. Believe me, most of us would have prefered nothing rather than an email. The email felt like an insult, whereas nothing probably would have only made me feel "Oh well, no bonus this year then" I certainly would have forgotten it by now.
  • Ok, ok. Points well taken. Maybe I was being too frivolous in my remarks, perhaps I should have said it would be better, for me at least, to get something other than the cash 98% of the time. Sorry, everyone. But it does take the fun out of it when you visit your friends towns every da

Sorry, everyone. But it does take the fun out of it when you visit your friends towns every day to get those 3 spins and all you end up for your time is a few dollars.
