I am one of the estimated 90% who supported enhanced background checks, at least in principal. Gun control proponents seem to vilify the NRA, but the bottom line is our congress is already bought and sold by those with the deepest pockets. The US Congress no longer truly represents the citizenry. This failure is just one of a long string of failures by our federal government to do the right thing for our country, instead voting first for their own campaign contributions. The UK poll listed Term Limits, referencing the two term limit on American presidents. Until we have congressional term limits, career politicians will continue living in the pockets of their largest donors, and legislation will continue to address those donor's needs, not ours.
