Just noticed this thread. But, yes, I agree, this quest line is a bit ridiculous. I can understand why there are some people wanting to ban guns but some of Wiggums lines were absurd. I could never hear him saying some of those things on the show.
Completely agree. It's as though the writers of the game have never seen the show. can you imagine Apu actually saying to Wiggum, "We don't stock guns, you overweight imbecile"?patrickcarne494 wrote:
I am also shocked to see that in an effort at damage control, EA is locking other posts offended by the storyline and directing them here. Only one thread about the horrifying, strongly one-sided political writing looks better, doesn't it?
You dang right it looks better. Instead of having the same discussion with the same people posting the same things in a page full of threads, you put it in one place so at any point in the discussion everybody's caught up on what's been said already.
This is a Simpsons Tapped Out forum, not an NRA or Gun-Control forum. This is ONE discussion about an element of that game and doesn't need more than one thread discussing it.
Ideally they'd do the same thing with the constant ADD ME! and "What do you want in this game" threads. Because those are just as bad.TRTX84 wrote:

And while you're at it, throw in the myriad "What Did You Do With ---?" threads.- EVERY character in this game is a stereotype. "Loneliness and cheeseburgers" could offend body image people, striking teachers, mafia Italians, S&M gays, useless old people and drunks, * and awkward teenagers, hicks, Indians convenience store owners, Jesus freaks, bored housewives, vain tv personalities, ineffectual cops, corrupt politicians, beauty queen *, criminals, nerds. It's all offensive to someone. Yet it's the Zombie army led by the NRA and Fox News who are taught to freak out with the completely made up and paranoid delusion that the government is looking to take guns out of the hands of sane law-abiding citizens that causes this eruption and long boring debate about a game. Can't you laugh at yourselves at all? We're all getting lampooned in this game. And it's your twitchy paranoia and delusion that really scares the crap out of the majority of Americans that don't own guns. If you want to keep your guns why don't you act like you are level-headed enough to be trusted with them? Sheesh.
- I'm in the group that think the people complaining on here need therapy. (1) You're getting all worked up because of something in a video game, which also leads me to wonder why they're still getting all worked up when their master has already discredited them by saying video games are responsible for violence in the real world. (2) Gun owners are fine with the Simpsons doing satire on people of every race, religion, ethnicity, etc., but * their hearts out when they do the same thing about gun owners. Besides the huge ego involved, you gun owners are nothing special, get over yourself. (3) If "the only thing better than a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" is your defense, you really need help. People who have actually been involved in mass shootings have said that the last thing they wanted was somebody else spraying bullets all over the place. The fact is the only thing better than a bad guy with a gun is a bad guy without a gun.
Additionally, if you think the second amendment is reason enough to own a gun, guess again. The Bill of Rights was written for a different time and place. Some of them are very applicable to today, but some aren't. If you don't believe me, ask yourself how often people have had to exercise their third amendment rights (for you people in the UK and elsewhere, that's the freedom from quartering troops). American history has shown that we have been able to recognize that laws have no longer been applicable to the modern way off life. That's why the 21st amendment is in place. LusciousJohnnyD wrote:

Totally agree with everything!
So i'm italian and I should be very angry about all this mafia and luigi stuff but i'm not, I love the show and I love those characters. If you don't like satire maybe is time to stop watching the show :?- I came to the forums to voice my displeasure and start my own thread. I see I'm not alone. Very sad they did this. It's not even subtle, it's over the top. The show itself did a great job many seasons ago when Homer buys a gun. They showed all sides and made it funny.
Stereotypes are fine. If Herman was and is all wacko that's fine. But the responses from Bart, Milhouse and Grandpa are over the top and not necessary. Fox news this, and fox news that. That's fine if you're not big into second amendment rights. But to criticize those who are isn't right either. One day you'll wish you had the ability to protect yourself, just like you still have your first amendment rights to freedom of speech. And then what happens when it's gone?
This is just sad. Feel like uninstalling. Not sure why some nerd in a cube feels it's his responsibility to be political in a mindless game we all power up to kill time... - You are playing a game based on a series that has always displayed liberal opinions. If you want a mobile phone game to be your outlet for political expression maybe you should download one of the games based on the plethora of hilarious adult-cartoon shows written by brilliant outspoken conservatives.... oh wait... they spend all their creative energy condemning shows like the Simpsons.
Satire is always well and good until it is at your own expense; get over yourselves. If it is that upsetting to you, why not try one of those market-based solutions you are always so fond of. - And, I might add, this type of visceral reaction to a video game has a lot more to do with why people don't take your opinions seriously than any joke The Simpsons ever made.
- The Simpsons wasn't subtle? I'm shocked. We're all shocked. There are plenty of shoot em up games available so I suggest you uninstall your fragile little flower self. Stick to media that reflects back your exact views. God forbid you should expose your tender closed mind to views unlike your own. We don't want to give you the impression that the majority of Americans don't own guns or favor sensible gun control. Reality is just not something you are man enough to handle.
