I don't buy into this idea that people deserve exclusive items, just because they found out about the game earlier then most, but they are entitled to their opinion. I think its pretty clear that no matter what EA releases, some people are going to be upset. But we might as well save the bickering for when we know for sure, because there is no point in bickering over pure speculation. It's only a few days away, so it's not like we are going to change the developers mind at this point.
I agree with your first sentence in each paragraph. But I am not sure you are correct in the rest of your assumptions.... ....Our opinions count. EA has recently just showed that they keep atleast a halfopen, sleepy eye on this forum.... ....I do believe you are right that most of the coding is already done, but I think that making old items available would be easy to add or delete from an update, if they want to.... ....So EA, please do add some of last years limited Halloween items this year too, if not for any other reason, to check if re-releasing some items might give you more income!
I'm sure our opinions do matter, and that this forum is the best way for the developers to receive feedback. But this debate has been going on for a month, in lord knows how many threads. People have been asking for these seasonal items all year. Our opinions have already been counted, and I'm telling you one more thread like this, 5 days before the release, will not provide the developers with any knew enlightened opinion on the matter.
Everything said so far has been said before. The only thing different is now Josh weighing in, bluffing that he might just quit the game if he doesn't get what he wants. And if we do get everything from last year, you know he's going to act like EA changed their minds last minute just for him, and he'll expect a thank you from all of us. But whatever. You and I, and many others have already put our two cents in. Any difference we make, we've already made.
I'm sure it wouldn't take a lot of coding to change their plans, but if you know enough about marketing, you'd expect every decision for Halloween was finalized before September. It took almost a month for the higher ups to sign off on an OT forum. They aren't going to sign off on changes to Halloween now.
So all I'm saying, is you might as well wait and see. You write long unfiltered paragraphs to express your opinion and make good points, but it's not going to make a difference with EA anymore. All you can do right now is debate with people who feel entitled to keep last years items for themselves, but honestly, that is life. Self-entitled people don't sympathize with people they don't care about, especially if they are easily disgruntled, or bore them with spiels as long as this one.- No they shouldn't re release old items. It is unfair to players who already have got them.

I actually cannot do anything else than agree on most of this post.
But you have to realise that new people come to this forum all the time, some of them read about what the veterans write about not wanting older content available again, because they want to feel special, better, superior or whatever motive they have. And after reading stuff like that, some of the new people actually believe that those "self-entitled people" make a point, and keep saying that they don't deserve the old stuff and such (it hasn't happened in this thread yet).
I'm only trying to balance things out a little, I'm not writing on these forums for EA to read it. Until a few days ago, I didn't even really think EA had anything more than a blind eye here...
But Bravewall, I do wonder why you even care so much if JoshSherer might leave or not depending on the Halloween-update. Is it that important for you to "take him", or even "bust him" in the middle of "trolling". (Taking him in some lie). Or would you actually be sad to see him leave, so you try to keep him here by arguing with him? :) Unless you have him as a neighbour, I doubt his involvement and commitance to this game effect you in any way, but this isn't my table, I'm just intrigued :)HillyBillyOli wrote:

This couldn't have been a more obvious effort to feed my appetite to continue my "crusade" for getting old items back. I am currently satisfied with all arguments in favor of EA making old items reappear in this thread, and since you can't elaborate your reasoning behind that statement, I'm not biting. Nice try though :)Bravewall wrote:

Why can't we have the same argument over and over if it is within the ToU?
Oh... :D You didn't see the memo? http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/9722468.page
I don't see any rule in there that fits my question. However, that Cyan guy said to me via PM that he finds me deplorable and is going to block me. I lol'd when he said "deplorable".
Hmm. I guess it's not so much about the arguing, as it is the insults, trolling, and disruption to the forum. I'm sure it's all very open to interpretation.
This exactly.
Plus when the same point is argued ad nauseam, then it starts to turn personal.
I didn't say you guys were there, I asked you all to try not to get there. OK?
Start a new point of debate instead of just repeating yourselves and then it dissolving into personal attacks because there is nothing left to say.
I like debates and enjoy reading them, so carry on but play nice.FluidEmotion wrote:

Oh really? I have personally never seen a noob not want stuff, because the older players said they don't deserve it. But if thats something you've seen before, we'll then hey, keep sticking up for them. :thumbup:FluidEmotion wrote:

I don't care what he does. I'm talking to you. Not him. This thread he has made was simply part of the point I was making... The point being, it doesn't really matter now.
He's not leaving though. He's just... not.lissarv68 wrote:

Eh, lets not start punishing people for crimes they didn't yet commit. There was a Tom Cruise movie about that. It didn't turn out so well.FluidEmotion wrote:

Donna and Land get it.
They got it, and what about me... Did I somehow miss it?
Nope, you and others got it too.- The bottom line is this, I could come up with tons of reasons to re-release the items: Money for EA, they're already in the game so it is no effort to make them accessible again, it isn't fair for those who missed them, it is pointless to make anything one time only (even some tiny shrub or whatever), etc.
Is anyone actually able to give a real reason why the limited time items should not return? All I've seen so far is "I want it all to myself so that I can feel special" (immature), or "they were episode tie-ins so EA couldn't possibly find another way to re-add it to the game and it wouldn't make sense" (since when does simpsons/this game ever make sense and since when is was EA too dumb to find a way to re-add a black hole and Mayan stuff creatively)?
I haven't seen a good reason yet. - dcacooperNew SpectatorSurely the whole reason EA specifically refer to these items as "Limited Time Only" is because it leaves their options open. If they want to re-release something (like Fat Tony, which made perfect sense because introducing Legs and Louie makes no sense without him) then they can, and if they don't want to they can opt not to.
I agree that EA will re-release stuff that they think will contribute to the bottom line, but the other side of that coin is that if EA get a reputation for re-releasing all of the limited time items, it actually removes the incentive for anyone to bother with the limited time stuff during the limited time because they know it will become available again soon anyway ... and that could hurt the bottom line.
There are some limited time items I have and some I don't, but none of them make me feel superior to anyone else. I am pleased to have Duff Stadium, more than any of them, simply because it took so much damn tapping on snakes to obtain it, but superior to someone who doesn't have it? Nope.
It would give me a bit of an eye-roll if it suddenly became available to buy for doughnuts, and I might not bother playing through the limited time stuff with such fervour in future even if there was something I wanted to obtain.
That, for me, is the value of the limited time items ... but I am sure my opinion counts for little as far as EA is concerned, as I have so far played the game for free. And now that I have decided I wanted to spend some money on doughnuts to get some of the more expensive premium items, my game has broken altogether, and I can't even play it.
Maybe Kang and Kodos are trying to tell me something.
