Google iOS top grossing--you should be able to find the US rank on a number of sites, though yes, the game's rank varies by country and device (iphone vs. ipad).
That said, the iOS top grossing chart is based on very recent sales and has a lot of variability. #50s-70s during a time when many can't get on is not the most accurate assessment of the game's true earnings, just as #7 on Christmas Eve during the height of the Gil sale is also a serious overestimate.
If you are really interested and want to get a better sense of what the developer is looking at, you can register for a free account at the website I mentioned (App Annie) and make a chart such as this one:

Google Play's charts give more of a rolling average, which is less prone to highs and lows. Things are definitely down on Android, but they are not quite as rock-bottom as they were this summer when the game had huge issues on Android devices that prompted a complete app update and an in-game apology, if I'm remembering things correctly.
