Krustyland, should I bother?

Yeah, I dropped the shuttle a couple days ago to get it off the task book. Now I have to remember to keep characters free in Springfield so they can do Krusty quests...it's turning into a real chore. I figure I'll keep going just to unlock the palm trees, then forget about it.

I'm only around level 30 though, and still catching up on early-20s quests I never have money for. If you've got nothing better to do, why not? Can't you win donuts there somehow?

There are rare donuts under the balloons of Sideshow You, yes. In my opinion, this is the only reason to pay any attention to krustyland, it's not terribly exciting otherwise. It took me months to build everything because I only sent characters there if I had to. Being out of other things to do seems like a good time to start, though. It is, after all, new stuff to do.

The donuts aren't actually rare, they are set at a definite earning period. For every 100 visits to the balloon pop game (300 balloons busted) you will win 5 donuts, guaranteed. You can play that game ever 8 hours. So if you are absolutely fanatical player you can earn 5 donuts every 34 days, or about 55 free donuts per year. I've won it at least 3 times now. And so I always make that part of the routine of logging, admittedly after doing everything else, but even so, going to KL and busting those balloons. I think I'll win more like every 50 or 60 days, but still a nice way of earning free donuts when you aren't leveling up all the time.

Also, the rides included with the Events keep me going back to add on and redesign. I would believe they will include the Tunnel of Love or some of their other Valentine's related event coming up. Since we got the other KL rides for Christmas and Halloween.

    wow.

im surprised so many of you are down on KL.

it's just another segment of the game. i don't understand why you wouldn't play it. consider it a sub-game maybe. it has its own tasks. it's much more complex than the squid port.

i personally like it because it has allowed me to pace myself in the SF thread. I've only been playing since this past October but I'm already at level 38. My tasks are only about level 30. But all i read here are complaints from people maxed out that new levels don't come fast enough. So I'm in no rush to get to the end and join the waiting game for new releases.

i also like KL because you can be as creative as you want, and have a mostly complete build as a free player. the rates seem more reasonable.

I'm saving to build the last free item, the Tooth Chipper, right now. When I'm done, I'll post pics on the forum here and maybe it will inspire some folks to give KL a chance. i really liked building my KL. i wish i could visit it!

It is not that we are down on KL; it is because we finished it months ago. A new building with every update gives people a reason to visit but there is no incentive to go there.

Instead of a picture of your toothchipper (which many have ), give us a review 3 weeks after Bart takes his 24 hour ride
  • I'm not a premium completist but certainly a completist in freemium stuff. Therefore I don't ignore Krustyland even though I find it less appealing.
I send all of my characters into Krustyland that can go there (except Homer, since his Mr Plow skin earns premium rate in Springfield). I find that quite nice, since most of the 12h tasks use either the Food needle or the Eyeballs of death. Similar for the 24h cycle: it's either Krustyland Hotel or the Toothchipper for most of the characters (some guys don't have a 24 h task without Mount Krustmore: you can go for a 16h task on Twirn'N'Hurl insetad which earns not much less). With doing that, you have all of your KL characters doing their jobs on a very limited amount of buildings, which lets you collect their income quite easily! No more scrolling around in your Springfield to find the last finished task. In KL it is all clearly arranged. Forget about the visitors or your buildings/rides income. Most of the tickets will com through character tasks. And that is highly important, since you cannot do house farming in KL. With all your possible characters you will have your rides bought in no time, while having your Springfield beeing free of 50+ tasks to manage.
AND: even if you don't need the KL tickets anymore, you can still exchange your tickets into Springfield-$. When you do the 30.000 tickets into 100.000 $ exchange you get the SAME amount of $ as if you would have sent your characters to a Springfield task. OK, one downside: you won't get the same amount of multiplier in KL as you would get in Springfield.

Overall I find it worthwhile to send all Characters (except Homer) into Kl. There is no real disadvantage (except lacking modifier) to do so, but makes managing your characters a little bit easier.
