It sounds to me like you need to do a clean reinstall.
Uninstall the game. No, don't do that trick where you keep the game files, just uninstall it.
Turn OFF your device. OFF. Wait a minute. This will clear problems that nothing else will clear.
Turn on your device. Maybe start with a compliment like "Hey, you're looking really smart today. Did you do something different with your screen? It looks really shiny today." Then go from there.
Now install. Install. INSTALL!
