Maybe " hall monitor" is an American idiom ... That's the kid who sits in the school hallways and makes sure the other kids are in their classrooms or have an approved "pass" from the teacher to leave the classroom during class time. A hall monitor is often a kid chosen by the faculty for that privilege because they are "well behaved" kids all the time. They are often not real popular with other students. :)dgwglenn wrote:
