It's random chance. I've seen one post about getting five, but my personal best had been two. Technically, you could get a donut every time you performed a friend action, the odds would just be astronomical.

For the first few days (after stampy) I didn't get anything... Now I'm averaging 1-2 per day and the most I've gotten is 3.
