Would like to add that the other psych phenomenon going on here is the "overjustification effect". You stated that you used to enjoy visiting friends for the sake of visiting them. This is called intrinsic motivation. Now, you're being rewarded with points, which is extrinsic (external) motivation. The problem is that the extrinsic wears away the intrinsic motivation you used to have because you become so focused on the reward. As the external reward (FP) whittles down to 1, you find yourself losing interest in an activity you once enjoyed just for the sake of it. :wink:
