I have to agree. This crafting system is insane. I barely got caught up to the calendar yesterday. What really annoys me is that you can only earn one resource at a time from the Saloon (hats or pickaxes). They're making it so you have so go through all your resources in one day. At the rate I'm going, I'm probably not going to make it to the tenth prize.
That's another thing that kind of concerns me with the way it's set up this time. Even as a premium player who logs in at least a half a dozen times a day, I'm barely keeping up with the calendar. You think about how many people complain about not being able to finish or barely able to finish the past events and if us premium daily tappers can barely keep up - they're going to get buried :(- Well I'm guessing that all of those who keep posting on here about when is the next event, when is level 60 going to be released, I'm bored and there's nothing to do have this as the answer from EA, let's slow them all down so everyone virtually finishes at the same time that will stop them from rushing ahead then complaining about having nothing to do.

I REALLY expect EA to make an adjustment at some point -- they started with such a comically small number of neighbor payouts, and such a comically small number of bandits in our towns (has anyone actually figured out a spawn rate yet? ) ... far below what they typically offer in these events. I believe they'll adjust that soon, and then we'll outpace what we need.
At least, that's their pattern so far. :)
I tend to agree with this.Johnny2bd wrote:

I don't know what you two are doing wrong, but I'm a couple days ahead of the calendar right now. I just check in every 4 hours or so, clear bandits, and send people on task. It's not hard at all. I don't even visit neighbors.
Of course, it's good I'm ahead, since I'm going on vacation for 5 days with no internet, so I'll still be behind when I get back. :?- someonewashereRising NoviceAgree with most points but the following: Casino crafting was worse, you not only needed resources for crafting but to craft tiers for the next crafting level to craft more items. Also It was a bit of Luck and RNG my freemium town didnt get Lucus sweet (like many although not a fan of him so whatever)
Second there are limits for trades allowed but its still fairly easy of an event only login in 2-3 times a day in freemium and premium town and im fairly well ahead, just try to turn in as many trades as you can, prospectors are a prett big help. I will save some for neighbors who may need some extra resources before act ends.
However i totally agree that single choice for Belle and Rich Texan is really really dumb.
Its like saying:
Heres a free ice cream, for 2$ you can have chocolate chips and sprinkles or chocolate chips or sprinkles.
However if you choose the first you'll get a handful of both (so two handfuls of toppings for 2$) where as the other two only give you one handful (so one handful of toppings for 2$)
Rich Texan is a bargain as he is cheaper but it still doesnt soften the pointless blow of having him craft only 1 resource.
as a man once said:
"Be ice cream or be nothing, Zero Stars"

If I so desire, I get to spend more time with the game on the weekend, but during the weekdays the idea of checking in every 4 hours is simply wishful thinking. Gotta job and other life commitments. I consider myself lucky if I can check in once in the morning and another time in the evening.- You can have Belle and Rich Texan working at the same time as long as you do it in the right order. Send whichever one of them to make the current item first. Then have homer or Apu switch to the other item and send the other character.
Also according to the event calendar there is crafting in the last couple days or so of the event. I feel maybe EA has set it up this way to keep people engaged through the whole event. It seems a lot of people get bored and either slow down or stop playing at the end of events after they have accumulated all the prizes and crafted multiples of each item. I do wish there was more to do currently but the pacing keeps me anticipating the next prize (with an exception to the gates and fences.)
From my own personal taste and what I've seen in the forum it seems that the anticipation, and unveiling of new items is one of best parts of the game for many. I think thats at least part of the reason EA has set up the multiple acts and prize pacing the way they have. - i think the rocks are cool! :D
crafting those fences is a joke though! we can buy them for like $200, why would I want to wait a whole day just to craft one..ugh! - anaquarindNew Spectator

I think that this is probably the core issue here. Historically, players unable to check more than a couple of times/day tend to fall behind. Usually the events are paced so that someone who can check 3-4 times/day can usually keep up, and those who can check every 3-4 hours can surge ahead.
Not judging anyone's life or choices (everyone has their own real life issues and commitments), but it doesn't seem to me that this event is more or less onerous than usual. These events require you to play fairly frequently and if you are unable to do so this is likely the primary reason why it will be difficult to complete.
