Although I agree, compared to how many people play the game that don't complain, don't get your hopes up of it changing.

There were complaints about that feature. Some people bought a bunch of stuff without realizing. Could be they got enough complaints that they removed it. Also, there was a glitch in the previous event where the reverse was happening with elixir materials. Have 20 walls in storage. Try to buy more, but it would stop purchasing walls and yank them out of inventory. Could be another reason they removed it.
I can see how accidentally buying a bunch of things could * people off but that is easily solved by a little pop up that tells you you're out of the item in your inventory and asks if you'd like to buy more. Problem solved!
