North Pole station

This seems like a dumb question, but I have to ask. I took a long break from TSTO and happened to come back near the end of the monorail event. I was so late that getting the rail yard would have cost an insane number of donuts, so I shrugged it off, and only cry a little now. I'll be fine. ANYHOO, when I opened the game just now the station popped up as available, and I swear it said "start or continue your monorail" or something like that. It doesn't make sense that a station would generate track, but...does it? Otherwise who can "start" their monorail by buying the station? Of course now I don't see that text anywhere so this could all be a hot squishee fever dream.
