Well the nice thing would be for them to replace the donuts but they don't have to.
If however you did not remove the donut spend confirm then EA should be responsible for that.
I would write back to them and state you don't think that you have received value for the amount of money you paid for the donuts. Also since the activation of the donut purchase was accidental and in your view a confirmation should not have been disabled you would like EA to return the donuts so you can spend them in the gamr as you originally intended to. Make it clear that this act of goodfaith on EAs part would ensure you remain a customer in the future.
