- Well I think that if any of your friends have not updated their game since the Halloween event ended (i.e. they are probably inactive), then that is probably why there is nothing to tap on because the aliens don't exist anymore, yet their buildings can't be tapped on because they haven't updated.
As for your own springfield, well if you tapped on all of your own buildings right now and one of your friends went to your springfield right now they would struggle to find something to tap on too. If you leave your buildings untapped then there will be lots for your friends to tap on. - It could just be that people are taking a short break between events. I know I didn't play at all this past weekend, and when I logged in today, everything possible had a handshake on it. Which means if any of my neighbors visited there would have been nothing for them to tap. And with the new FP prizes, everybody is tapping as much as possible to get the prizes so the handshakes need to be cleared more often to keep things for people to tap.
With that being said, I apologize to my neighbors for not having anything to tap this past weekend, and I hope I didn't lose any neighbors because of it. - Either your neighbors haven't updated because they're taking a break after HoH or they clear their town and leave nothing to tap. Give them a chance to take a break as HoH was a taxing event. A bit of neighborly advice would be to leave some things uptapped for your neighbors. Preferably items that regenerate quickly, like Brown houses or Kwik Marts. Putting them near the center of town where your town opens is another nice thing to do.
- wadebearRetired HeroI'm in the same situation. Started at the end of Clash of Clones and then added a bunch of friends during the THOH event.
Go to your neighborhood and tap on the handshake button in the lower right area of the screen.
This will pull up lists of:
Friend Requests Received
Friend Requests Sent
Neighbors
In the Neighbors list, you can tap on a neighbor's name and it will pop up a box showing when they last played.
I've been going through my friends with nothing to tap and finding that some people haven't played in as long as 3 weeks. A bunch of others dropped out at the end of THOH.
My secondary town could use a few more friends. Username is abearsanta. That town doesn't have Krustyland yet, and I'm short on houses, but I log in several times a day and try to leave enough buildings to tap in between times. - A lot of people will be taking a break, especially if they did hourly taps on the last event.
So it could be a good idea give them a week or so before you delete them. :D - A lot of people, like me probably got into the habit of tapping their own buildings, since they weren't required for the event. I had to keep reminding myself not to do this once it ended, so this may be part of it. Or, like others said, they could be taking a break before the Christmas event arrives.
- You might have had some people lose interest in the game, check when they last played and if it's more than a week just remove them from your list and seek out replacements.
If they are playing sometimes you might just have bad timing, you might have caught them before they could clear out the handshakes or right after they cleared out all of them but before the buildings regenerated money...maybe trying to tap their town later in the day will bring you better success with this. - Thanks everyone for the helpful information. I didn't know it was possible to check when the last log-in was for each neighbor, or that the gremlin sound means they haven't updated. Turns out some haven't been on in over 2 weeks. I don't think I'll be deleting anyone yet since my friend list is nowhere near full, but at least now I can tell which ones to not bother with checking back later in the day and which ones to check again at different times. I guess I'll have to clear out the handshakes and graffiti whenever possible since I don't have the money or land to put extra duplicate buildings specifically for others to tap on when visiting. I'm so far behind with the main quests. >_< Already level 30 and I'm still trying to scrape together enough cash to build level 20 stuff. I think it might be because of event quests giving event items instead of money with the exp. Plus the writer's building costed so much more than anything else I had seen up to that point, and I was afraid if I didn't get that ASAP it would stop being available after the crossover episode aired on TV. @_@
- Events ended and some players stop playing until the next event, I've unfriended neighbours who have this attitude :x

Same. If nothing is tappable and they are not visiting, they are dead weight. There again I have a full friend list.
I know you are worried about dropping people because your list is not full but honestly it is not too hard to replenish your list.
