Old-style Multi-events

I'd love to know their reasoning behind this basic event style. Probably to reduce technical problems. Wish they would just add a couple more features during big events. I miss more than anything, logging into my game and finding gifts and eggs left by friends. That was so much fun. I miss the spawning creatures, or something attacking, attaching itself to a character.

So maybe that many things going on at once is just too overwhelming for our operating systems to handle. I don't think it's laziness, if anything probably a budget concern.
