Psst...hi!
Once upon a time we were more enthusiastic because our desires were being met. Slowly over time, EA stopped meeting them. (boo)
But we don't need them to do much more than keep the game from constantly crashing. Because the fun of the game is still within US. I've committed to redesigning my whole town. I'm not nuking, but I am deleting huge swatches and reconfiguring the entire city.
I've started by deleting everything I don't like. Opening huge pieces of fresh grass is refreshing. I'm deleting all things except the buildings. I anticipate using far fewer trees and trimmings. My overhaul is beginning with an all new SF Heights. I'm removing the business district and making it all mostly upscale residential, except for a smaller, boutique shopping area.
Then I'm going to redo the entire coastline of SF, all new Squidport and reconfigure the water-specific items. Once that is done, I'll tackle the big redo of all SF.
I've made a list of all the districts I plan to build. Now I'm in the process of sorting all the buildings to fit them. Some of the new districts will be:
Casino
Outlands
Barrio
Gentrified coastal
Mid century coastal
Big Box Row
Ski/winter resort
Capital city financial
Burning man
Stadium park
Rural SF
Vampire village
Santa village
Castle row
- plus reconfigs of all the usual areas like the dump and industrial zone, airport, Press board Estates, etc. Only my Town Square and KL will remain the same. But I'm moving the Town Square out further into the center of the grid.
This is a huge undertaking, and it's scary deleting old designs that have been on the map since forever. But change is good, and agility is our best attribute. We must adapt to the new pace of the game if we want to keep enjoying it.
So, less waiting on EA to entertain us, more looking into our own imagination to conjure new challenges.
I stopped in to share this optimism with @happyone2323 and @TwigletStyx, but it is for anyone who wants to take charge of your experience within the game. There's plenty to do if you want to.
Hello and happy new year to my neighbors! Thank you for continuing to visit me; it's ALWAYS a welcome joy to see your names floating up from a batch of new handshakes. You folks are always welcome in my SF. I miss you all. Sorry I haven't made a fun contest for us in a while. "Once upon" WERE some good ol' times. Take care xoxo!
