As you sort of mentioned you want them to innovate in the game, I can think of twice that they tried to innovate, once with Krustyland and another time with Springfield Heights, both times they where met with a deluge of complaints about how horrible these ideas are, there's certainly some parts of the game that could be vastly improved ( storage for one) and other areas that would benefit from being polished up a little but if you change the overall dynamic of the game you could easily ruin what is a very successful mobile game, as to things like night mode/zoom out unless the decide to do a massive rewrite of the code then I really don't think that those will ever be in the game.
