I really like this idea. I am someone who only comes to these boards occasionally with a question, or if I'm killing time , waiting for stuff to finish "cooking" in my town. But this topic enticed me.

Many of the programs that I watch are are fiction, which is my preference. Here is a sampling:

Game of Thrones
Breaking Bad
Mad Men
The Walking Dead
Nurse Jackie
Newsroom
Boardwalk Empire

30 Rock (series over now :( )
Community (first three seasons only..... Thrilled that the original writer is coming back)
The Big Bang Theory (my 14 year old daughter and I love to watch this together, and I'm a science fan)
The Soup (this is as close as I get to most reality shows, which is obviously not very)

Old series that I loved:
The Wire (greatest drama ever written for television, Imo)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The Dollhouse. (yes, fan of Joss Whedon. Looking forward to seeing his Much Ado)

Animated and weird animated:
Simpsons
Family Guy
King of the Hill
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Squidbillies

I can't think of others right now. Those are my favorites.
