Playwise, what do you think was really intended for CoC?

I was thinking about this this morning as I was driving to work (sad, I know...).

While it is clear that many on here have finished, or are cloe to finishing, I have yet to win the balloon. I am one of those who have trouble getting to the game more than once or twice a day, and I have feeder towns I try to keep up to date as well (which have yet to have wizard marge usable).

That being said, I have to wonder how the BIG picture looks from EA's perspective. Are the majority of players throughout the world almost done, or is there a majority closer to where I am? Clearly on the forums, I am lagging far behind, but as we all know, the forum is a very small sampling of the total players out there (and probably not the best at being a random sampling). Do the players "out there" know the best tactics, or are they just winging it?

This is one thing that is interesting about this forum. While it is very informative about the game, and provides a lot of contact with others afflicted with this addiction, it can also warp our perception of how things are going in general.

But back to the topic at hand, what I am trying to say is that while we have our own little community here with it's conclusions, discussions and rants, it does not necessarily mean that we are a fair representation of the masses, and therefore, makes it tough to understand exactly WHAT EA is thinking. I DO believe that they thought they had themselves a winning event here, and may now be trying to do what they can to make it so...whether that means tweaking the payouts or changing the rules, or whatever.

Take a look at rolybert7's signature and I'll think you'll get what he is really on about.
McTattie created the signature for me! He no longer posts here! He created many signatures for many people back in the day!!

And yes that is what I am getting on about  The abbreviation is ok to type just dont speak it 8)

    Just a Joke

    No problem.

The Irish readers of the forum would also be getting a laugh out of using the abbreviation. It is a word in their language.

Is this a regional reference I'm not getting? I was going to let this one die but the suggestion a day later to google it definitely opened this one back up. The acronym list is endless.
Here is a hint (blank) a doodle doo (what a rooster says)

Oh for criminey sake!! Never mind!!

It was a dumb joke anyway!!

Sorry Neglectarino!! I figured everyone would snicker and move on

I tried to move on yesterday, really I did! The danger of telling someone to google it....

Yeah. I should have let this thread die on page 2. :-)

No worries, rolybert7. On we go...

  • I'm finished with this event already and I didn't do anything remarkable; I just visited random towns whenever I had new nerds and attacked five buildings per town, one nerd per building. I played quite a bit every day but certainly didn't get up during the night to play. Basically, this was a super-easy event and I'm now checking out until Halloween or the next level update. I can't believe this is what EA had in mind, given there's still over five weeks to go before shields and nerds will finally, mercifully disappear.

So either they messed up, and/or there is going to be something else before Halloween.

That is if there is anything for Halloween to being with. The board speculated that there might be only a mini-event covering a single weekend since the event ends in early October, and frankly there is little time to hold an event before the Christmas event. Their "plans"? Maybe an episode tie-in and that's it. That isn't including potential new levels in October or November.
  • I just finished the event this afternoon. I didn't use any donuts to speed things up, didn't spend donuts on cheater or banners or walls, didn't speed up tasks. I have not changed tactics since I started, unless you count tapping buildings but that's beside the point.

Reality is I have played every 2 hours to get nerds, sent them on attacks, tapped on shields to clear them. I am probably not too popular with neighbors since my town is pretty high(level 16 castles) but then again most of them are also the same level or higher.

Bottom line: EA didn't do this to make a huge amount of money. Look at the timing: I believe it's meant to get people into the game more than anything. Start of a new school year for the vast majority of the USA, with colleges in session starting in the morning- it's a perfect time to get them into the game!

Yeah but if they don't add new things they might very well get a lot of people out of the game. With a lot of other things going on, it's hard to get excited by this game after you finished the event and there are 5 weeks to go.

How is this intermediate period any different than the other times in between level updates and events? how is this any different than back in March between the valentines day and easter events? It isn't really.

EA does not have to cater every event to keep the interest of a few, not when they need to find ways of getting more people to play.

Is your point that this event was structured more for a beginning, casual player to try to get them into the game? And that's why they went with this type of event with this content? Because with schools starting all over the place kids who they want to attract won't have time to log in every two hours. Were you thinking that they wanted to try to put an easier event in place to draw in a lot of new players? That actually makes some sense to me.

without the bug why would anyone want to earn over 100,000 elixir in order to upgrade all castles to level 20???? what for??

I play every 2 hours except for the 7-8 hours of sleep. I'm not sure how much I get that could be from a bug vs not a bug. And I have almost level 20 on all 3 of my castles. Even assuming we were meant to get less than I get every day I think by the end of the event I will have gotten past level 20 on each of them. Especially considering more and more appear to be adopting the no defend strategy. Practically very town i go into regardless of time of day are full of house farms half destroyed or well past sleep durations into 12-24 hours building durations.

You may want to hoard elixir for now and not upgrade past 20 on the castles until we see if EA lowers that 105,000 price for a wall.
