I tried to use a few of those Mac apps and it was them I had the problem with. Perhaps I just didn't take enough screenshots or do it in the right way. What's the process? How much do you have to overlap? Do you go across the top from left diagonally up right and then back on yourself or what? In what order do you put them in the app to stitch them together in the right way?
I'm usually good at figuring out this stuff but I have absolutely no experience with photo editing software and this one really got me stumped.
Well, I find that this software, doubletake, isn't very difficult to use so I didn't mind it. :D
To answer your questions, how much you overlap depends on how you take the snapshot. You need to mentally remember approximately where the end of the snapshot is and take the next one from there. One good tip that zuzu mentioned is that when taking snapshots, wait till the build menu and task book disappear before taking it. Just so you don't have to crop those out.
These are the steps I usually take. :)
1. I usually take about 30-40 snapshots of my entire Springfield. I start from the top left hand corner and work downwards and than going back upwards again. I do this until I have taken snapshots of everything (or so I think)
2. I do the same when I open up the software and piece everything together in the same order.I find it easier to take 3 pictures of one area to piece together at a time instead of just chucking everything in to piece together. Like I mentioned, this one is really easy to use. It's just a drag and drop really and it'll merge the pictures together for you. Just need to match the pictures up like a jigsaw.
3. It should be done now but if certain parts are layered too much, the portion becomes a little blurry, I try and re-take snapshots of my Springfield again and piece that area again. Or I might miss a few portions and I'll go back and take a snapshot of that area again.
I hope this answers your questions. :)sonny1618 wrote:
I take it you put each screenshot on it's own 'layer'? What type of mode is it that let's you overlap them in the appropriate way?
correct, every screenshot is its own layer...as far as modes go, im not that advanced so i think just 'normal' mode? just dont change anything when you start it up, make the canvas massive (depending on how big your springfield is), and just stick with the move tool. insert image and move it so it overlaps.
pretend its a multi-track editing tool (adobe cool edit pro?) and each picture is a different track, line them up accordingly.- petergeenenNew SpectatorWork in progress.

Here is mine, its in dire need of an overhaul once the snow melts. It's full checkerboard, it definitely doesn't look like any other town I've seen. They characters walk on the board from one piece of road to another, you can see Bart skateboarding in the upper right portion.

- I'm loving the checkerboard, as well as everyone else's pics! I'm afraid I'm going to have the worst one here, as my laptop is broken and I was forced to use an app to stitch it together, one that limits size. I cringe at the bluriness upon attempting to zoom. But here it is anyway. It looks much less cooler than I thought it would; it seems I have a lot of redecorating to do in the future, lol. That cow of a racetrack will be the first thing to go.
- This thread is so awesome and mine is certainly no masterpiece like many others here. But i wanted to see my whole Springfield so I might as well share it. :) I am currently moving a lot of stuff around, so see it as work in progress  ...Also, I suck at editing so that's why it looks a bit glitchy.

Lookin' good so far!- Finally got around to doing this. Had a lot of trouble in Halloween Town. There was one image that wouldn't lay properly, and I just kept going from image to image trying to get them to lay properly and I finally gave up. But, overall, it turned out well especially since I was using a free program. :)
A work in progress. I'll probably update this tomorrow when Try-N-Save and the prison finish. Working on squaring it out and moving around buildings and such.
