Price of donuts

Hi all.
There is no way to deny it, I am a whale. I've spent alot of money on this game over the years, not so much I can't afford, but I've bought allmost every premium item coming my way.
Today I went to the store and saw that the price of donuts has increased alot :!: :!: :!:
I am from Norway, so the price for boatload of donuts was 700kr (at the time aprox $100), now it's 949kr after the update (in todays currency aprox $125) If it's because inflation the price should be 745kr, that is if the price in $ are 100
(I know this might be a bit comfusing for people not using norwegian currency)
So my question is: Is this happening in the other currencys? or is it local?
If this price continiues, I might stop buying donuts even how much it would hurt a completist's heart.

It went ujp a while ago and it went up for everyone/ The price of the scratchers has gone up also. :)
  • Ugh, I just checked, and yes it's gone up for me too (Canadian currency). It's now $57.99 for a Store Full, and it was $49.99 before. The Boatload is $119.99, for reference, but I always buy the Store Full so that's the one I care about.

Never went up for me. Still $99.99 US for a boatload in SE US on Android (Samsung Galaxy).

It is because your in the U.S. Overseas users like the orignal poster live in norway they have something called VAT and i belive its the currency exchange rate of that country. Compared to the U.S where EA does business. I have heard about this through the years of playing MMO'S where user of the game would pay higher monthly fees for playing game in another country.
  • VAT stands for Value Added Tax, it's a tax based on the value of the product. In Norway it's 25% But I did not know they implimented that.

I believe the recent price increase for some (non U.S.) users was due to exchange rate fluctuations rather than VAT. For example, in the U.S. a boatload is priced at 100 USD. They want to receive 100 USD regardless of what country the purchaser is located. Before the price increase, they would receive less than 100 USD in some countries due to the exchange rate. This results in a significant revenue decline. So prices were adjusted to account for the differences in exchange rates.

Im not an expert, but the math is easy. 100$ is 760NOK, add 25% and you will get 950NOK. So there is both VAT and updated exchangerate.
I'm not going to drag this any more, it gets more and more educational for my taste. Back to tapping and now conserving those donuts I have left.
But thanks for all the answers!
  • Unfortunately I dont think this has anything to do with FX rates. I am in Australia. When the exchange rate was US$1 =AUD$0.90 cents that would mean it should cost me AUD$90 - but the price did not change. I think it costs $129 - and now USD $1 = $1.20 and the price hasnt changed.

It all has something to do with distribution channels - and basically the US distributors screw over most of the other countries in this regard......
