Question about visual tasks

I've viewed from a feeder town, and yes, it's a random task associated with the skin. Also, visitors will see the visual task you set.

However, sometimes characters will just wander around. Largo, for instance, doesn't appear to have any random task assigned to him when he's on an indoor task. Always been disappointed with that. I would love for my neighbors to see him conducting an invisible orchestra outside the Liquor store. (I'll now have to check if EA fixed this.)

I wish it would go back to the original way were you people on indoor tasks stayed indoors and when they completed the tasks then they would just wander around aimlessly. I liked it because people, mainly my wife but sometimes forum members, could let you know when your people were done with their tasks and it was time to reassign.

In my town(s), if the person is on an indoor task and is finished, they're just shown wandering out of the building task-free. Like the old days.

    EXAMPLE:

    1. If I have a bunch of people in the church on the 12-hour task and peer into my town from a feeder BEFORE the 12-hours end, I see -- for instance -- Marge come out of the church holding Maggie, and the Reverend riding his red choo-choo train.

    2. If I peer into my town AFTER the 12-hours pass, I see -- for instance -- Marge and the Reverend both come out and just wander around town.

    3. If I had assigned Marge and the Reverend to the 12-hour church task at different times of the day, (aka "staggered" finish times) then the one who is finished is wandering around, and the one who is still "on duty" is performing an outdoor task.

The only time they're assigned random outdoor tasks is if their job isn't finished yet. At least, that's what I'm seeing.

Wow...all of this is news to me. I just thought your neighbors saw everything the same as what I see in my town. I'm a little disappointed.

We see everything you set up for us to see! If you want us to see Smithers whipping-it, and you assign him to "Whip It", that's what we see.

We also see characters who you had tucked indoors (hidden), performing outdoor tasks. Thus, if you assigned Smithers to an indoor task, we might see him Whipping it outside whatever building you sent him into.

    Did that help?

OOPS. There IS one difference. If your character is finished with their task and YOU login to your OWN town, you see them still performing that task, but with a thumb-up. On the other hand, if your character is finished with their task and a neighbor visits your town, that character is just wandering around. No thumb, either. For all we know, you didn't task that character at all. ;)

"Independent" visual tasks going in my town:

    Patty and Selma smoke break
Fallout Boy Milhouse make a heroic escape
    Michael D'Amico serve food
    Sideshow Mel debone the hair
Shary Bobbins fly on her umbrella

I've only gone through the first list but the ones I didn't delete are the ones I couldn't find.

One odd thing I did see was that the Lovejoys were worshiping together in front of the church but Reverend Lovejoy was also driving his train around town.

That happens a lot with dual tasks. The character who doesn't have the task on their list will get a duplicate from a neighbor's perspective. Happens to Homer all the time.

So, a lot of the tasks you didn't see were wandering type tasks, so they're easy to miss. And Shary Bobbins is way at the bottom of the map, over the ocean. But Patty and Selma should be easy to find. I will check from Patchwork's town.
*edit* Yup, found Patty, Selma, Shary, Michael, Mel, and Milhouse doing what I assigned them to. :)
The only characters who seem to be wandering idly are the stonecutters who are currently in a secret meeting. This makes perfect sense because those skins don't have visual tasks.

I figured that since I didn't see them doing anything else that I had probably just missed them. It was a fun little scavenger hunt but after about 15 minutes I realized I was supposed to be working so I had to stop.
