Question for long time players about donuts

Yes you can do it, but it takes a lot of time, for instance when you finish level 30 you will be awarded 3 donuts.
Level 31 wil award you another donut, and leveling between levels, will award you up to 3 donuts more, it will cost you game cash, if you have plenty don't worry.

Probably 75-100 from leveling up and cleaning up trash, plus the free donuts they give out on random events/holidays. I didn't include the bonus level donuts, because at level 27 for instance, before the 20% increase on XP started, I hit the bonus level 50-60 times. I had a ton of in game cash though, so I bought and sold weather stations over and over , ended up with enough free donuts to get the Rich Texan and a
Hot tub for free basically. It's a lot harder to do that now with the 20% increase everytime you level up, and I don't forsee many ways in the future to get free donuts, but if you're at 64 now, an you level up 3-4 times before level 31, and then a few times on level 31, you can probably get enough for Dr. Nick.

I'm more or less wondering about how often they will throw out donuts like they did during Whacking Day. Is it pretty common to get some free ones during large events like that? I've only been playing since Feb and missed out on most of Valentines / had no idea what I was doing to get anything from it.

I kind of screwed myself because I didn't plan on buying donuts (could always change my mind later) and didn't think you could get more than maybe 60 free total donuts so I was of the thinking that if you wanted any real chance at a big premium while playing for free your only chance was Homer Buddhas. Now that I've manage to get 64 just since Whacking Day I'm thinking I could save for something more expensive unless this was just an exception.

It does take a lot of time and "effort" as well. I always spend my cash to always get 3 donuts! :D

You are so right, I even would say an incredibly amount of effort!

The Xmas event gave out a ton of free donuts but I seriously doubt that they do something like that again simply because of the free donuts. I'd save my donuts for a later event or until I have enough for bumblebee man + the news van or whatever it takes to get the 24 hr tasks ( I forget ). Also Otto is a good value purchase.

Keep in mind the misery box will sometimes have decent stuff.

It might help if I list some of my targets:

Bumblebee Man - 60 Donuts (can buy now and have 4 left over)

Dr Nick - 90 Donuts

Otto + Bus - 120 Donuts (Otto is my fav character but I don't like the idea of paying 120 just to get his bus which is kinda lame IMO)

Frink + Lab - 150 Donuts

Springfield Sign - 170 Donuts

Figure the sign is out of reach unless I wait longer than I care to. I'm looking in a two month span, any longer than that and I'm better off just getting BB man now.


Edit: Nonoddie - I actually scored 10 on my weekly mystery box last week. Should also be opening up a bonus box today but I didn't plan for it with cash so I only have enough to reroll once.

I wouldn't spend them on dr nick unless he's a fav. Personally I'd save them for a character w/ building or bb man W/ news van or tower to get 24 hr tasks

Only character and building combo I really would want is Frink or Duffman, which I think would be unattainable in the time frame I'm keeping in mind.

Dr Nick is one of my favs and one of the few Hispanic characters so that's part of the reason I'm leaning towards him or BB man.

Edit: Up to 68 now after mystery box and cleaning up a bunch of trash.

I remember getting 60 when they put it back on the App Store. I'd say close to 200 in total for me, not including the ones from the Santa stockings.
