When you are being attacked, tap on the cheater's die in the upper right corner. It prompts you to touch the screen to defend. Tap on a house that IS NOT being attacked. I'm not sure whether this defends all of your houses at once or what, but it worked for me - the screen flashed white, my die count went down by one and the quest cleared.
Why you have to touch a house that is not being attacked is beyond me, but whatever. :?

Just tried this any no luck for me :( didnt work, it collected all the attacked houses money etc but the task is still there :(
