Simpson Tapped Out ending

Many people have paid a lot of money to EA to play Simpsons tapped out and to have a situation where those purchases cannot be used after January 2025 is totally unacceptable. If EA have  any sort of professional customer service ethics they should develop a way for Simpsons tapped out to be played offline with the caveat that there will be no further game development or updates.

A very poor current state of play!!!!

Why bother giving us all these free donuts to decorate our towns and not let us have access to it after January 2025?  All of us take time and effort to create our towns. It is a labor of love to make it visually appealing.  I have put in countless days...years, in rearranging my town to make it look nice.

I hope EA will do right by us and give us an offline mode.

  • I agree with you! I would also like not to lose my job; 12 years and being left with nothing in hand, it's not nice!

  • A few weeks ago EA were taking money on tapped out then now say in January sorry it’s useless to use and will not work. How on earth does a retailer deem that acceptable and appropriate business practice!

  • I agree completely. My husband and I have been playing for years and put our own money into buying the donuts for all the cool stuff. I have been saving my donuts since last year because I was anticipating a Halloween event. Now I find out that I’m going to lose everything after January? Why get rid of the game? Why can’t we just playing it offline? I’d buy a copy of it for PC and play it on my laptop. This is such a slap in the face to all the players who started years ago. It’s pointless to give us all these donuts if we’re going to lose everything anyway.

I have been playing this game daily 2 to 3 times a day since 2013, it's part of my morning routine (having trouble breaking the habit now).  Odd thing is now, each time I play it I am just thinking I am full on wasting my time now, I mean yeah, I would like them to make it available offline so we could still pointlessly play it purely out of habit or just rearrange our towns with the understanding that there will be nothing new (I wouldn't actually mind that).  But in the knowledge that come 25 January 2025 we won't even have access to it, it makes me wonder what is the actual point.  Why is EA bothering to bring back stuff from years ago, when in a couple of months it will be completely gone

Up until a few weeks ago EA were still actively charging a lot of money to purchase premium game content knowing that in a few months it cannot be used. I have made a complaint about this and may well follow up !

Concuerdo completamente, muero de pena saber que el avance que tengo lo perderé y el juego que juego hace más de 12 años se vaya… que hacer para que esto no se detenga ? EA debería darnos una explicación 😢

Agreed with all of the above, keep this game going!! Or sell rights and transfer data to another company, keep servers up with no or rehashed updates, make it available offline.  Our cities are not too big, downloads do not take too long, fans still love and want this game

I don't know what is in the agreement EA has with Disney, but while EA still has the license for the game, can they not have a final update to let the game continue to run without connection to servers?

  • You are all missing an important point.  EA does not own the rights to the Simpsons.  From all accounts the 20 yr agreement with Fox, now owned by Disney expires soon.  For whatever reason the agreement was not extended.  When the licence agreement ends it ends.  EA can not just keep using the licence. Thats an absolute.

So they gave us months notice, essentially made everything free, and allowed us to finish.  Many games just end.  Oh and no one paid to play like one post says.  You may have paid for premium content, but not to play.

So what exactly do you propose they do.

Whilst I note your observations I personally do not agree with your reasoning. If I buy a film dvd, record or other playing media then I have the right to play it without time limit. I see no reason that if I purchase Simpson tapped out game play then I see no reason that this should be time limited.

      thank you

But you didn't purchase the game or game play.  You purchased optional content.  Its not the same.

You agreed to the terms of service and that stated the game could end at any time and they would have to give 30 days notice to do so. They did.  Maybe you should learn to read the terms of service better.
