I really hate having to slow my play down in order to save money. I have so many plans in my head and it's frustrating to wait sometimes days before I can work on those ideas. I'm getting ready to open the Wiggums house quest but feel like I need to finish designing my Burns Manor first. I'm very excited to get started on it --- I'm thinking of using the white house as a gate house or guest house or maybe both! Have been missing all the nice talk in this thread for a week or so - sometimes the non-tapping life comes to mess up the actual - tapping life. ;-)

I have the same issue - collecting the money (for the tower in my case). 1,2 millions were there, when the Wiggums and El Chemistri came along. Now back to gathering my first million ;-) Until then - no land expansions and no place for he planned sports / camping / relaxation area :-(

So it is quite a lazy time in my town - haven't even completed my Burns mansion - sorry for that my friends. What I did -
I tried various houses for Burns mansion guest / servant house and only the blue one seemed to fit.
