I'm not a fan of bumping a thread but i do enjoy a nice discussion so here is my list of Pros and cons:
Pros:
~Idea has promising potential for Decorations and characters, besides the ones you listed i would include Bear Patrol Vehicles (Various) and Grant connor the hunter, possibly even the bear wearing Homers Bear Buster 5000 (F=from the episode The Fat and the Furriest)
~More land and most likely an increase in Tree-Hugging decorations
~A Designated area for trees, tis something ive been trying to do since i began the game, seen others create their own forest area.
Cons
~Possibility of Lag.
~AN increase in Requirements of Tree Hugging in Conform-o-meter
~Not 100% necessary
Conclusion:
I've wanted a wooded area since the beginning of the game, i made a park but after some power leveling i discovered that its a waste of space, more importantly without the aid of certain buildings/decorations such as Fort Sensible, Kamp Krusty, Volcano Lair or Mount Murderhorn your forest/park will look quite plain.
The problem is that it isnt that much of a necessity, heck it doesnt even have to be an expansion update all you really need is to add some decorations to the shop and thats it. I've seen some nice parks in my neighbors towns, some are as simple as adding some water through some woods, while others got creative with there Springfield Falls (and with Springfield Lake being added you can get even more creative.)
However this is a very well thought idea it easily hits #3 in my top 5 ideas i read on this forum list, its just that with the decoration limit unchanged it isnt something you desperately need right now, now a springfield badlands or shelbyville expansion those are expansions i want right now (as long as theyre on a separate map, this idea can go on a separate map but makes more sense on the springfield map).
