Squidport can be extended if you have the yellow submersible. This info is from wikia:
The Yellow Submersible is a limited-time premium decoration that was released on March 9, 2016, as part of The Marge-ian Chronicles Promotional. It was re-released on May 3, 2017, during the Secret Agents 2017 Event. It can generate Boardwalk Sections and Pier Sections even after the maximum amount of Sections have been reached at the Squidport Entrance or Ornate Pier.
