Suggestion: "Player is away for x days" button
I think this idea is promising. In addition to that, there should be in game messaging. That would save a lot of Springfield relationships.

I've been thinking about this for a long time, now. What I imagined was a simple notice that can be customized. Tap a button, and you can enter up to, say, 25 characters. "I'm away until blahblah" or whatever. But that may be abused by dumb messages that you have to tap through every time. So your idea is good! A series of buttons. But to avoid abuse, it should be a few selections in a small window, like "Away until... " "On Vacation until..." "Will return on..." and then you can type or select a date. And when they return, and play again, it'll come up with a notice that says you marked yourself away until such and such a date, do you want to mark yourself back?
