Is there an advantage to not do 3 battles? I thought you get 3 a day?

You do get 3 per day. The calendar suggests you'll get all the prizes if you only manage 2 per day.

No i see no benefit to doing fewer.

No, you're just confused. The amount your game says is necessary, is what you need to get that x-ray truck.

But if you want to get the final prize, you better have the amount shown by the end of each day on the calendar, to stay on target.

It probably could've been better illustrated with the truck BETWEEN the amounts listed for the 14th and 15th, rather than on the 15th, so that it did not appear associated to the 23,000+ amount needed by day's end.
