I really like the spying too. It also allows you to gather money from your building without having to think about your friends....on the other hand you always need to click twice instead of once... (one time for money, if you have some, one time for the pyramid) - I really hope they keep it like this too!
It used to be this way - that you didn't always have to leave things untapped for your neighbours, I can't remember when they changed it or why, but I hope they change it back and continue letting us tap all our own buildings again when this event ends!
The double tapping thing is a little annoying, but once the event is over it won't be an issue anymore :-) - I love being able to see the building animations! I mean what's the point of having such a unique detailed feature and never being able to appreciate it, especially for the buildings we had to shell out hundreds of donuts for and none of the characters have a task inside it??
I hope they bring back the bad dream house this Halloween for all you later arrivals, seeing it in people's' towns between 2012 till when I got it in 2013 drove me CRAZY! Pokelon wrote:

I'm not saying keep the actual spy part, although that's ok too if so. I don't mind the double taps , I just think the way we can spy now can be changed over to the handshakes so they are the same feature but still separate from having to wait for buildings to be untapped. And I actually prefer the double taps to collect both but that's just me.- it would be nice to tap on buildings that neighbors are building, and help by decreasing the time it takes to build, like each neighbor tap reduces the time to build by a hour or so.

It would encourage players to visit their entire list and not penalize those at the end of the alphabet or a full list of neighbors.

The forum is a good source for those needing neighbors, so newer players would be on an a more equal footing, assuming all buildings are tappable, as with this event.

You are a WONDERFUL neighbor, thank you for your daily visits!!!
And the same to you :D- They usually only use this sort of system when there's event currency to be earned. E.g. for Halloween last year, we could haunt neighbor's buildings, and it worked pretty much the same as the spying (actually, this event has a lot in common with Halloween in terms of mechanics.)
Normal neighbor taps reset a building's timer, so it doesn't entirely make sense to be able to tap anything before its timer is up, unless they completely changed how it works. But how would they do that? Maybe just be able to graffiti every building? I'd be fine with that, but there are some people who would hate it.
I don't think it's a bad idea at all, I'm just not sure how it could be implemented.
