My, what a gloomy scenario. But it won't die-- soon, anyway. The show's been on for 24 years, so there's plenty of content left to add. And it's been quite profitable, so the incentive is certainly there for EA will be to keep it interesting. The challenge will be how to attract new players to balance the attrition of the old ones.

With all the amount of characters & buildings the series has to offer. This game won't die anytime soon.The real reason behind all the content being released is because there is a lot more people playing the game now than there was last year. There's a lot more money being made on the game now, so hence all the content updates.Personally I hope it never goes under and keeps cranking out content. This is my favorite game and pretty much the only one I play on my iPad & iPhone.

the only problem I have is with visiting other peoples towns. The big ones with all the land and premium content (or large house farms) tend to crash my game. If they keep adding more land it can only make it worse.

White houses and blue houses both, are stacked so tight you only see the rooftops. The other buildings, questbuildings, premiums and such that is not a part of the farming, occupy just a minor part of the town. I suppose this player has all the land slots, or close to all the land slots, and most of it is what seems an endless housefarm. Anyway, when I visit him, and he for some reason hasn't logged in to harvest his houses... My phone loads for what seems a really long time, before I finally get in. I have been wondering more than once if I soon won't be able to get in. I guess when that happens, I'll just delete him... Probably should do that now anyway... (as a sidenote it was a nightmare finding all the snakes daily in his town...)

Of course people might lose interest and this game will die before the end of the year, but don't think there are any signs of that yet.I think the main reason why they are pushing these big updates, is to keep people playing/hooked during the summer. Because as long as people play, a percentage of these players will spend money on the premium content, so EA can make money of the game. I also think EA is forced to keep pushing new content, to keep these lvl 30 guys playing and not switching to another game.

I think EA is aware of this impending demise and that is why they are cranking out content as fast as they are now AND jacking up donut prices for things. They are milking the game for everything they can before it dies.

lol....they made 25 million last quarter......i dont think they'll stop this "cash cow" .

If they did stop updating this game but the game kept on going i would still play it :) Would be no real different to playing while waiting for an update just put everyone on 24hr tasks and re-design :lol:

Although i really cant see this game coming to an end any time soon they making to much money out of us :lol:

An American should check but I bet the readings for new Simpson's has gone up. Which might change the negotiations. Fox is making even more money from additional sales of dvds and comics due to this game.

Truthfully, I think the show as a whole has a short future ahead of it. How old is Matt Groening now and how long has he been milking this cow? Do you think he's, well, a bit tapped out himself by now? How many new RECURRING characters have been introduced in the show in the last 10 years? If you said none, you'd be correct. I don't recommend a spinoff enterprise - something the less-talented Family Guy team has been pursuing in recent years - but if The Simpsons wishes to stay around a few more years, they could do far less damage than introduce a few interesting new characters (including, oh, maybe bringing in a few new full time voice actors and some new writing blood) and then maybe - maybe! - the show could last another decade or so. Only that will keep this game going. Cause if not, I don't see it lasting another 18 months.

Quite frankly, games like these operate on a parabola. They rocket in popularity then decline, usually exponentially. Look at virtually any other game like this. The only thing that may save or prolong it is the fact that is has such brand appeal and a lot of potential, but it will, without a doubt, end, probably withing a couple to five years. It's very sad for some of us who have spent hours and hundreds of dollars in game.

lets also not forget the technological limitations of this game. Even if they could have it last for more than 5 years, all that content would just be too much strain on the servers. Maybe if we're lucky we can get an offline patch with community mods and we could continue to play an entire community driven version. It's a bit of a pipe dream, but dammit it's something.

I don't know how people can stand playing this game on a phone, even I wish I had a bigger iPad to see everything, and yes I do know how to pinch the resolution down.

Would be cool to be able to play on my big computer screen :)

You can link your iPad to your TV and depending on the size of your tv how much bigger do you want the game :lol:

Another thing the show could consider would be more serialized content. Think about it..how many story lines have moved beyond the "back to zero" reset formula? I can think of only 4 off the top of my head (add more if you can think of them):

1) Apu has octuplets
2) Maude Flanders dies (and Ned dates others, including Krabaple)
3) Milhouse's parents divorce
4) Barney goes on (and sometimes back off) the wagon

I realize the last thing the writers want is for Lisa and Bart to progress into their teens, but there has to be more 'progression' if fans don't eventually get a serious case of the 'Meh's'.
