- I too have notes that Metal is used a lot more after the Casino update.

I quit the rail yard ages ago. Too much of a grind for 5 donuts. Saved my sanity...sort of.
I think I may go this route. With the addition of Maggie's Game, Daily Challenges, etc. it's fairly easy to pick up free donuts here and there.
The Rail Yard can sometimes go smoothly and you get 5 donuts in 48 hours. But too often everything can get out of sync and you're juggling too many things, or characters are needed elsewhere, or you get a string of metal projects and get annoyed, etc. I haven't even really thought about what eventual monorail placement I want (I just have a small loop now) so I don't know how many pieces I need, so I don't even may attention to track count (if I did I'd complain about curves like everyone else).
The Rail Yard is very do-able over the course of a week. But at least I feel like it's a race to finish it as quickly as possible. I should spend that time doing other things.- I'm on track to finish the railyard tasks for the week by tomorrow, but yeah, it seems like it's been an endless round of metal recycling. Haven't been at the casino for the past 36 hours or so.
To be fair, I think it was planned this way from the start because metal finishes so much more quickly, and usually you have more of it faster than the other two.
Would have thought they'd have been more even-handed about distribution of characters working the centers though, knowing that they use mostly lower level characters during events. It sucks to either take everyone from the casino or everyone from recycling. It could have been split 50/50. - someonewashere9 years agoRising NoviceCorrection, the railyard was ridiculous when it was first released, i love the donuts and the manner in which they need to be obtained i just hate the characters they used for recycling tasks, its a short pool used for almost everything else in the game.
Springfield heights was first released, along with it came of system of permanent crafting, some were joyous over something to do in-between events, but there shouts of joy soon became cries of desperation when about a month later the monorail was released.
The railyard uses characters that are needed for events, most quests, krustyland (if your still doing those quests), Springfield heights and pretty much everything else. Its what makes me question there logic of assigning event tasks to certain characters.
metal has always been a common blueprint job, it can be crafted in large amounts within an hour so there tend to be more metal tasks and with the added bonus of being the hardest resource to overstock when your finished with all tasks at hand chances are the next bunch of tasks available will require metal. - I've had 2 weeks of predominantly metal projects, and 2 of more of the other 2. Still managed to get 'em all done by Sunday at the latest.
My secret is I do 3x Casino tasks (usually say 8am-12pm, 12pm-4pm, 4pm-8pm) then get a run or 2 of everyone at metal before sending 'em back to the Casino for overnight.
This week has been awesome though - so many plastic & glass tasks, instead of them being idle waiting to clear off some metal projects. Already up to 55k.CLWggg wrote:
Also, what's the score with this?
774 blueprints for 60 metal, or just 762 blueprints for 60 metal *plus* 750 trash??
"Secondary" currencies (i.e. + XX metal) have a slightly lower payout than the "primary" currency of a project. It's usually about 30 blueprints less.
The SimpsonsTappedOut wiki (not LPN's) has a comprehensive grid of currencies & payouts for small/medium/large projects, under "Project Board" entry. - Ive got 3 People making metal a day as the rest are at casino. All 3 of my request are after metal my highest wants 155 with just my 3 people

Sounds like you are only trying the high value ones. You get more opportunities for the other materials if you go for the lower ones. Case in point, I'm at 58055 right now, and it has been largely metal-centric.
But that said, I have nothing but metal exchanges required today. Nothing else. Not once did it ask for plastic or glass. Earlier, had 125 metal plus trash, just got it back up to exchange 160 metal, now it wants 155 metal plus some trash.- All my weekly railyards have mostly been metal centric, since the very beginning. I'd say about 5 out of 6 jobs have metal in them. With the casino, it's no different. it's always been annoying for me that metal was so essential, and now even more with the casino.

It seemed to me that I've been getting metal more often since the event started, but I think it's just a Baader-Meinhof phenomenon (yes, I had to re-look up what it was called)
I've been thinking that, as well.
Short Definition:
Noticing something that's always been around... after it's been brought to awareness/pointed-out.
Long Definition (from PSMag):
"Stanford linguistics professor Arnold Zwicky coined the former term in 2006 to describe the syndrome in which a concept or thing you just found out about suddenly seems to crop up everywhere. Its caused, he wrote, by two psychological processes. The first, selective attention, kicks in when youre struck by a new word, thing, or idea; after that, you unconsciously keep an eye out for it, and as a result find it surprisingly often. The second process, confirmation bias, reassures you that each sighting is further proof of your impression that the thing has gained overnight omnipresence."
