No, the donuts are plenty of rewards for me. Just saying that I don't only get 3 fights every four hours like you said I did.

I thought I was behind till the boss fights. I'm on the last boss task right and just got the last prize a few hours before that.
Hint. You can speed up the boss fights. Send the first group on thier task. Wait 10 ish minutes then manually send the heros on
Their tasks at the same time. So it's 4 hours for both groups not 8. I only say give it 10 mins in between because you'll need to
Clear the villans before the heros are done or you'll have to start over. Hope that makes sense. I saw in another thread. Anyway
What I thought was going to take 4-5 days only took a day and 1/2.

Is getting Dr. Crab worth it? Even with fighting the lobster, I doubt I'll get there, but I have everything else, including the movie studio. Is Crab just another character or does unlocking him offer anything of worth?

He is another "playable" character not a skin. If you dont care about getting new free limited time characters then i suppose he wouldnt be worth it to you. I play for characters and npcs (not skins) so he was the main goal of the act for me. I like him and glad I got him.

After defeating the lobster at the Soilent Red Factory you unlock The Dead Lobster building for free as well

I didn't think any of the acts were hard. I'm already done, with 2 bonoughts done already!

Dr. Crab is a fully playable character. You get a funny quest line, and 2 animated tasks, one of which is Dr. Crab dancing.
