This is a good event. Why all the hate?

Here are my thoughts on the event. I don't mind the a Harry Potter event but...
1. Half the crafting items are just repeats I already have.
2. People miss when we had zombie's, aliens, and ghosts running around our towns to possessing people. Although I admit just having some creatures running around doing whatever in towns is a lot easier than for them to program rather than something that actually interacts with your springfielder's but far less engaging.
3. A lot of people expected Trick or Treating to be back this year. The only way to see the Trick or Treat costumes right now is one at time with the Nightmare Pile. I also expected them to find a use for the premium costumes from 2015 as well.
4. There is no real reason to hit friends towns. It is a slight benefit to you and doesn't help your friends at all.
5. This event isn't very interactive for you either. Take a few minutes in town and have kids fight monster's, release monsters, and hit the tower and your done for 4 hours.
6. A lot of people like the THOH events to have a dark feel to them. I wasn't impressed with the movie magic theme last year because it detracted a bit of the dark feeling around the Halloween Event. This event doesn't really seem much better.
7. This is a pretty versatile event that could pretty much be done any time throughout the year.

I really don't think this is a bad event per say but it just doesn't seem like a real Halloween Event. I just feel it falls short of what we should expect from a THOH event. This was also the same thought I had with the Pagan Event. It wasn't bad but I wanted an actual Christmas event.

Crafting is a legitimate beef for players who've been around awhile. I'll do fine because I don't have most of it but I'm guessing a great many people already have about half of what's available through crafting this year. That's a terrible ratio.

Not to mention that those who have most of the crafting content still have to earn the amount that content costs to advance to other prizes, so you either add multiples of things you don't want or you just throw that event currency down the drain to advance.

The monsters this halloween are more of a treat than a trick, especially if we get to keep them and the animations and the snoozing. They don't scare people though, it sounds like. Maybe that's tough for a video game, especially when the competition is real world terrors and the prospect of nuclear annihilation. Which brings us back to Homer.

Just to chime in ... I've been playing TSTO since 2013 and I definitely have fond memories of the first 2, maybe 3, THoH events I played. Last year's event was not necessarily bad, but it was not a particularly memorable event for me. This year's event isn't something I hate ... it just makes me sad. Because it simply is not very good in comparison to the earliest events.

I'm not a Harry Potter fan ... not saying I hate it coz I don't, just that I honestly don't really care about it. H.P. tie-ins and spin-offs and copy-cats are dime-a-dozen ... everybody's done it to death already, and the Simpson's aren't doing anything original there. So I find the story line to simply be ... boring.

Much of my annoyance isn't with the content per se, but with the mechanics. And that is not limited to this THoH, but with just about every major event of the past year or so. This 40-day long three-act structure is just too dang long. I'm happy to grind for cool prizes but only for relatively short bursts. Grinding for a month and a half is not fun. And the lack of interaction with the neighbors is sad. And to make it even more boring, they eliminated the stepped earning levels as well as the counter that tells you how many more 'neighbor actions' you can do for IGC. Why should I even bother visiting neighbors for this event? Neither I nor they receive anything notable or meaningful from that activity.

I think the real issue isn't the story or crafting - it's the lack if anything to do. Once you visit friends and tap the microphone you can't even grind for anything.

I just can’t believe this is the Halloween event. We don’t really ‘do’ Halloween in the UK so I look forward to this event every year. This is just awful I haven’t even bothered to decorate my town. I usually put pumpkins everywhere but they are staying in my inventory.

I've been playing this game since 2013 as well. While I'd admit this event is not of the best events ever it's still a good event.

the time traveling toaster event wasn't original either and everyone loved that event if I recall. (probably cause it was based off an episode from the golden years)

There's still a benefit from visiting neighbors in this event in that you get wands for tapping goblins in your neighbors towns. How many wands you can get per for friend action will pop up if you hit the icon next to the wand count. I wish you could help neighbors more directly by dropping goblins in their town though.

It's not a big deal for me, either.. partly because I am approaching summer where I live and it's not spooky at all, just hot! ... but the Simpsons show has always made a big deal of it. The THOH episodes used to be the one (?) episode of the season to take place outside of the usual Springfield setting. That's why this event is a disappointment - it feels like just another event. You could drop a Harry Potter themed event any other time of the year - like in the series where there are references to Angelica Button at various times - and it would be fine, you know.. not great, but fine.. but Halloween is different for the Simpsons, even if you're an adult :dizzy:
