I've noticed i only get 1 per tap (3 per friend visit) am i the only one? does everyone else get 2 per tap? :cry:

That's a misunderstanding somewhere.
You get 2 ray guns per alien in Your town.
You get 1 ray gun per alien in other people's towns - but you can tap 3 aliens in their town.
When the game shifts in a couple of days it will be DNA Strands. I've heard different numbers for how many we'll get per tap.
