I didn't want to be in that position of not having the $$ for getting a building started, so I've purchased little land. My guess is I'm too conservative right now.
I have done the same thing. I decided that I wasn't going to buy land until I needed it. I remember having to wait all the time to get enough money to buy things, so I am trying to avoid it. I am not sure what the best strategy is, but hopefully between the 30+ of us someone will figure it out. :)
